Just landed a Sans Digital 5-Bay USB 3.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID5 Tower Storage Enclosure from NewEgg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816111172
Price: $299 - 30 instant rebate - 15% off (coupon code SANS15HOLIDAY --- this code is good until 12/31) = $229.49 w/ free shipping, plus I got some 2.5%-4% cash back from my Ebates account.
With my five 2TB HDD, I plan to run RAID5 which gives a storage space of 7.5TB. Now that is plenty enough for my audio/video collections

Not a bad deal, however keep in mind it is not a NAS and is therefore not accessible via the network on its own. It will have to live next to whatever USB/eSATA device you plan to use it with--or I suppose you could run USB through your walls and put it somewhere remote.
I don't have any experience with this particular device, but normally the fans on these enclosures can be quite loud, and there is also the whining noise of the spinning hard drive platters to deal with. If you populate it with the maximum 5 drives, it will definitely be noticeable in a listening environment.

My computer/server is in another room. My Logitech Touch connected to it via network, I also watch movies via DLNA, so noise wouldn't be an issue. That's why I go with this. Besides, this will allow me not having to deal with plugging/unplugging multiple drives whenever needed. I'd rather have a central storage box which I won't need to wonder whether a particular file is on it or not.Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

Oh absolutely. And with a server in a separate room, your choice of hardware makes perfect sense. I was just making points to consider for others that may have been contemplating a similar purchase.
