I just received a Denon AVR-1612 receiver for christmas and then I purchased a Polk Surroundbar 3000. Is there a way to connect the soundbar to the receiver?

You can probably find a line-out of some sort on that receiver (Tape monitor?) to hook it up. I don't see the point however, the Surroundbar 3000 is self amplified and meant to connect directly to the television.
    Main Surround -
    Epson 8350 Projector/ Elite Screens 120" / Pioneer Elite SC-35 / Sunfire Signature / Focal Chorus 716s / Focal Chorus CC / Polk MC80 / Polk PSW150 sub

    Bedroom - Sharp Aquos 70" 650 / Pioneer SC-1222k / Polk RT-55 / Polk CS-250

    Den - Rotel RSP-1068 / Threshold CAS-2 / Boston VR-M60 / BDP-05FD

Yeah, optical out from the Denon.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

In that case you'll need a 3.5mm jack to RCA adapter from whatever source you want to use? You don't have optical from your cable box?

Goal was to change out last 36" tube tv ever made connected to wife's 15 yr old yamaha recvr and update all - Have 46" toshiba flat screen - recvd denon 1612 recver for xmas and needing speakers - was trying to keep small and sleek and thought soundbar would look good however later found out polk 3000 is active bar and cannot find way to connect to recver - would like to use recvr as have connected sony bluray w wireless and cable box via hdmi - wouldn't be meanningless to hook optical from bar to cable box? I could take back recvr and just use bar (having wireless issues) or could take back bar and just get speakers for the recvr. Anyone have any thoughts?

The previous poster explained how to connect it to the receiver. You need a optical cable from the receiver to the surround bar. If you just hook it up to the cable box you won't get sound from the dvd player for movies. Buying speakers is another option but you have to decide wich route to go, if you want surround sound or not.
