I've got an Onkyo TX-SR706 for sale. 4 HDMI inputs and PRE-OUTS. Great way for someone to cheaply get into separates. I purchased this in the summer of 2009, and has been delegated to light use for my computer set-up since I picked up an 805 about a year ago.

7/10 on the audiogon grading scale....a few minor scratches along the top, but the front is flawless (other than needing to get a few fingerprints polished off the face).

Asking 300 plus shipping. I'll ship double boxed, via the carrier of your choice.

Forgot to mention this, but thought I should:

The unit was serviced by an Onkyo Authorized Shop under warranty for a faulty HDMI board about 6 months ago. It has since been fixed in perfect working condition ever since. Probably should have mentioned this in the initial post, but it completely slipped my mind that I had to have it serviced.

    Hey Mystick-

Got your pm and will call you this evening. Check on shipping to 37604 and we will discuss details tonight. During service did they replace the HDMI board. I know this is a common issue w/ these AVR's, but I actually feel better that it failed on you and has since been serviced so it should be good to go now w/ adequate ventilation I hope.

I dont think it was ventilation but bad cheap caps they were using. My HDMI board had problems in my Integra even though its got a good 5+ inches of clearance at top, 2 on the sides and was never run hard. Plus the HDMI board is at the top so it should have no problem getting rid of heat. They replaced like 5 caps on the board and gave it back and so far its been good to go (fingers crossed).

I spend over $200 when I take my wife to the strip joint so this a great deal. I was under the impression the the 6 series did not have an hdmi issue ? I dont think the hdmi would fail from overheating like this previous generation does

The TX-SRX06 series has those problems in spades. It was the first series to have them if I remember correctly. My Integra (DTR 5.9) also came out at the same time as that series.

I had a 607 for yrs and loved it but when I first bought it I was so worried about the heat but I never ran into problems once. In fact i really miss the onkyo and it wierd but to this day am still blown away by its performance in 2 ch with martin logan speakers as it sounded very detailed ,transparent with no harshness

I hope you enjoy many evenings like i did with the new toy bud

Thx, I'm looking forward to using it. It will be replacing a Denon 890 that I've been pretty happy with overall just wanted something w/ pre outs. I'm using a Polk Monitor 70 and CS2 as front stage that a Rotel 981 amp will be driving the fronts, and the AVR will handle the center and a set of Paradigm mini monitors as surrounds. I haven't really double checked the specs to see if the Audyessee implementation is different and not sure which video chip gets better marks for upconversion of older sources but I've never been a high end type for video and think both will be similar. (Denon vs onkyo AVR)

So far it's working fine. It's still on the kitchen table and I've listened to cd's and spun a bit of vinyl thru it but just haven't had time to swap it out w/ the Denon yet and try any video connections. It's on the to do list for this week and looking forward to it, I just hate having to pull everything out cable and speaker wires plus the setup so when I find about 5 free hours it'll get done. Thanks again for the fair sale Carlo.
