I have a question about live sound to the 5jr+.
Picked up a Jackson and want to build a small (5/200 bridged) amp/ monitor setup.
Are the humbucklers on my Jackson strong enough pre to run the Sunfire and ultimately the 5jr+ directly from without going through the mixer?? or will shi7 go drastically wrong?
I ran the 5jr+ with the 5/425 and it sounded like magic! I was amazed at how much power these kids could eat!

It will work but the tone you are gonna get will super thin. I would suggest running it through the board or get a Pedal of some sort at least.
Are you looking for an acoustic sound? If you are your on the right track but if you are looking for that old clean rock guitar sound you are not gonna get there that way. -
Terrible idea! You do that and you'll probably have more blown tweeter pics to post! Pick up a couple Celestion Greenbacks.
And those are 'humbuckers', not "humbucklers"! "Strong enough pre to run the Sunfire"....that makes no sense. No way for us to tell how hot they are, are they stock? Have you put a meter on them?--Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
Sspoke to "Bill", He said give it a whack. At worst it won't drive it or I might get a ground hum but it won't hurt anything to under drive the amp. It simply won't respond.
I do have a little pre/mixer (The one I originally was using for the Hitmasters, 4 channel Behrenger I think) that I will use if need be.
Sound room clarity at night when all others are sleeping is what were after so volume isn't an issue just crystal clear sound. I figure the less components the better. When I turn on the other's it's like the whole house comes alive so I have to keep it to a minimum. With the volume that low the sound floor takes over and it just sounds fuzzy.
I am looking for not much more than a tad louder than if I weren't plugged in at all. Just enough to register the effects.Too much **** to list.... -
If you are interested, I have a little 5 watt tube practice amp. Based on the Fender Champ circuit. I took it in as part of a trade deal last year. I changed out the stock tubes for JJ's and upgraded the stock speaker to a Weber. I also have a Epi Valve Standard, 15 watt tube amp. Just the amp and housing, no cabinet, no speaker.
Both amp are bone stock as far as any mod's go.--Gary--

Thanks Halo71 I do appreciate it but it all worked out well. I did have to use a small mixer but the sound is spectacular and I haven't even put the 5jr in the mix yet (Just some cheap monitors in case something went south). Makes me want to try the transducer on the 12 string.Too much **** to list....
