Looking for a nice tubed preamp, with remote. A phono stage isn't necessary, but a plus.

    I guess it depends on what it is. I will pay more for a great preamp.....within reason.

    That really doesn't help. How about a range of cost? Like "$300-500, but if it's really nice I'll spend up to $800". It just helps us form a baseline for what you want to spend. What associated gear will it be running? Speakers, room size, etc. A little more info is nice.

    I used to have an AR SP8 mkII, Modwright SWLP, Aloia, Magnum 99, etc. Along those lines is what I am looking for. I have 2.3tl's, Acoustat TNT200 amp. Budget? I will consider anything, say up to $1500? I hate doing that since some guys jack their price up once they know what you will spend. Not always, but it does happen. I had a Belles 21A all lined up to buy today but the seller mysteriously backed out :( .

    Belles 20A or 21A,with the cap upgrades.

    I was really all excited as the Belles 21A had the Auricap upgrades and was black. Good price too. Too bad the seller flaked out at crunch time.

    I have a black Rogue Audio 99 Magnum that was upgraded by Rogue Audio in May 2011 that I may part with if the price is right.

    I can send you information if you want to contact Mark or Nick at Rogue to find out exactly what upgrades were done.

    If you don't mind spending less money, let me suggest a Antique Sound Lab Line One Compact Tube Preamp.

    New price is only $350. I bought a used on on CL for $130 shipped.

    Sounded pretty good with the single stock Chinese 12AU7 tube it came with. I substituted a Russian Gold Lion tube and it improved by leaps and bounds. Now it is my favorite and cheapest preamp. I prefer it to my $1350 Forte preamp and many others.

    Incredibly simple inside, few components, point to point wiring. In my opinion simplicity usually leads to better sound.

    Line level inputs only so you will need a separate phono pre.

    I added some heavy polished knobs from a defunct English Magnum integrated and now it looks as good as it sounds.

    No remote volume control, but I probably need the exercise.

    Let me read up on that Lite Audio LS9. I am leaning towards a Rogue Perseus(Magnum). Now if I can find a used one in black.
