Just thought id post a few pictures on here I know others have done it before but having the LSI speakers without their wood is the best mod ive ever had. Ive had both the cherry and the ash and neither compliment my black furniture well. The Polk ebony is too purple for my taste. Just a quick pic of some 9's and 7's.

Those sure do look sexy. Too bad its not an option for me with the LSi 15's

Love the woodless sides. Polk should've offered this option.

Just beware that you should not try this with the newer LSi's that don't have the beveled edges. They apparently used a very strong glue (instead of tape), so you will ruin the sides if you try to remove them.

It's not even that. Newer LSi have real lacquer finish, but the area under the wood is not finished. So even if you manage to remove the wood panels, you'll end up with ugly sides instead :)
Personally, I like the wood panels on LSi's. But they should've bolted them to the sides, instead of gluing, for a better bracing.

I don't know. I sort of prefer my LSis with their cherry wood finish. Tearing off the sides makes them look diminutive and, frankly, "cheap". Also, is that wood nothing but decoration...does it have absolutely no effect on cabinet resonances? Hard to believe Polk added that much "weight" for "nothing"?

Actually as an advanced woodworker I would take the adhesive/glue route over the screws. I think the boys @ polk got this right as the adhesive attachments will not rattle loose and will become a part of that which they are attached effectively making a pair of 3/4 inch panels become one "solid" 1.5 inch panel. Wish I could learn more about water rings on veneer tops of SDA's.
