Power Corrupts!

This is my story and I'm sticking to it!!
I bought my SDA 2As in 2009, had an HK 3490 that I hooked them up to...turned up DSOM to loud+ and blew a tweeter. After that I ran them on my Pioneer SX 1500 TD and listened at lower levels. They just never really sounded as good as when I auditioned them.
Last year I went to an local audio get together and was impressed with several set-ups that had high powered amps driving big JBLs and home brewed speakers that sounded terrific and they played loud...much louder than I really wanted to listen to...and they had bass, lots of it. I went away with speaker envy, and started my search for JBLs:eek:.
This last get together I got to know one of the guys that had a bunch of JBLs and ask questions about JBLs and audio 'stuff' in general. Told him about my experience with the SDAs and the tweeter and his response was I did have enough power and suggested what he was using...
http://www.wired4sound.net.au/amplifiers/yamaha_PC2002/yamaha_PC2002.htm The problem was that they(PC2002M) are not easy to come by.
I'm impatient and found a Yamaha M-45 amp to use while I continued my search...this amp woke up those SDAs and just wetted my appetite for power:twisted:.
All was not well, one night during a RLL(real loud listening) session the lights in my house flickered and dimmed!!! I live in the country and electrical outages and failures are common...but not like this. I turned all audio systems off and the next day called my tech friend who said bring them in...the Pioneer which was being used as the pre amp and the M-45. So, I hooked up another Pioneer, an SX 727 in the interm. Didn't sound bad...but, not like the M-45. The M-45 turns out is fine , but the SX 1500 needs work/refreshed and was the problem.
My search ended last week with the addition of a PC2002M...and after a check-up put it with the SDAs using the 727 as the pre and I'm in SDA heaven:cheesygrin:.
I just got through playing Robbie Robertson's new LP "How To Become Clairvoyant" and can not get the grin off my face.
Of course, many of you are going to say "we could have told you so"...but somethings are learned the hard way and if you wondering I'm not looking for JBLs(well not in earnest). Preston
Here's a quick pic of my set up the PC2002M is on the rack, on the third shelf...putting out it's goodness! Oh, the lab is old and deaf...from hunting and age not loud music:cheesygrin:
