RTi A9 Amp Question

Curious if 2 Emotiva UPA-1 monoblocks are enough to effectively run a pair of RTI A9's. OR, would they be better on a set of RTi A7's? I have the money to buy everything just want to make the right decision. For those that suggest a larger amp, I am overseas in Japan with an APO address so the weight I can receive via mail is limited to 70lbs per item. Otherwise I would get an XP-A3. Any advice is appreciated.

They have plenty of power for 7's or 9's. Have you looked at Parasound or Marantz. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I have been looking at a lot of brands and narrowed it down to the Outlaw 2200 and the Emotiva. My biggest problem has been finding a dealer who will ship to an APO address.

I'd personally go with Outlaw, i've heard good things about them with the Rti's. The Emotiva's aren't bad but can be a little bright and paired with Rti's might not be the sound you're looking for.

Thanks for the input! I definitely do not want a bright sound so I may end up going with the Outlaws. I am still torn between the A7 & A9.

I have the a7's and love them. How big is your room. Can't go wrong with 7's or 9's. I'm running the 7's with a parasound hca1500 and you can't turn it up and be comfortable with the sound. I'm not saying it breaks up or anything. Just to loud for human comfort.

power may not be your main issue here, Emotiva and Rti series speakers will get you out of the room very quick because of brightness, unless this is a 100% HT.

RTiA9's is the way to go if you can swing it.. They will not disappoint, if this is more HT then music going with Emotiva will be fine if your on a budget..

That's more than enough power, stop fussing and get your groove on. My choice would be Emotiva instead of Outlaw, just personal preference/experience but there are no inherent problems with either. As far as one being brighter than the other I'm not sure as they both sound generic and have zero sonic character, i.e neutral.

I with dorokusai, I would jump on the Emotiva monoblocks in a heartbeat. I own the XPA-3 paired with RTI A9's and the snyergy is wonderful. The amp makes the speakers really sing.
    Setup:

    Emotiva DC-1
    Emotiva XPA-3
    Emotiva UPA-2

Don't mean to hijack, but as long as we're talking Emo and A9's, do y'all think one of their 125wpc amps would be sufficient for them? (LPA-1, UPA5/7)

125WPC to A9s? you're dreaming. you need at least good honest 200 here. all 5 woofers need a lot of power to move.

I started out with Outlaw M2200 monoblocks on my RTi12s. Very compact and nice little amps. Well built and perform very well, plus they never get hot. I moved on to the Sunfire and D-Sonic amps since then , but for the price the Outlaws are great bang for buck. Used you can find them really cheap. Also look at the M200 which is similar just does not have the balanced IC connection on the back.

Put a good 2 channel amp to them, you will change your mind about what you just posted.. Yes the XPA-3 works well with them but if you want to hear what they can really do put a good 2 channel amp to them and watch those drivers pump some air..
