I realize I'm new here, but lurk quite a bit...about 6 months ago I got a set of SDA-2As for $140...been using them primarily in my HT setup with a Boston VR center and some lame **** R50's for rears. So the other day, I got a Marantz 1250 (125wpc 8 ohm) integrated....moved the SDA's and the marantz to my computer/dining room (bachelor haha)......and my notes are as follows:

WOW

I'm hearing stuff I've never heard before. I might have to go through all my cds again. I have quite a bit of FLAC material on my pc as well, with a quality sound card (X-Fi)

I'll go now, and listen more...thanks for your time!

I'm a HUGE fan of SDA with vintage Marantz. I've powered my SDA 2B's with the Marantz 2245 (best combo I've heard to date) and now I have the Marantz 1160 on a pair of CRS+'s and it's really nice.

Theirs just something about that vintage Marantz (70's) sound. The pieces I've used weren't the last word in resolution and clarity but they had a really nice tube like coloration that I loved.

Congrats on the gear and it's about time you chimed in!

Very nice gear you got there! I had a Marantz 2238B receiver long time ago and I loved the sound very much. it was just 38 watts, but it sounded like 100. I like the 22XXB series.:arrowu:

Its all about the journey and discoveries made along the way. Sounds like you've made some fun discoveries so far.

Thats a very nice setup you've got. Ask all the questions you can on this vintage Polks. You will find lots of folks have done lots of modifications that can make them sound even better than they do now.....

Just beware the Rabbit hole

That is a cool moment many of us have lived over and over again. Great, great hobby if you like to listen to music and sound and singers.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Those Marantz are very good amplifiers, they were build to last for a long time. Today "most" of the amps are build cheaply.
The thing I would do is I would check/replace most of the electrolytic capacitors, since they dry out with time. also I would check offset and bias voltages.after all these...you will have an amp that can last you another 20 years or so with no problems!.
