Pioneer Elite SC05 - No Digital Sound Output

Multi-channel analog works great. As does the 2 channel PCM.
Tried to connect the Ipod, DVD composite inputs and HDMI but no sound is output. There are no
visual error messages or lights blinking on the unit. Went into the MCACC setup and when you are
supposed to hear a tone, all I hear is the hiss sound that comes with higher volumes on the speakers.
I have the service manual and it looks like I have a DSP issue since I have 2-channel PCM and multi-channel analog sound. Apparently, the HDMI source sends the 2-channel PCM around the DSPs. What is weird is I opened up the unit and didn't find any visual evidence of anything wrong. Both DSPs had 3.3v on the supply and there was continuity on the audio line solder joints.
It looks like the unit thinks everything is fine as I see the speaker icons on the display with the
LFE sound waves adjusting as source is passed through the unit.
I have tried a hard reset but no change. Is there a self-check diagnostic on the unit that I can run, maybe through service mode?
Anyone have this problem before or an idea to fix it?

Yes. I read a few of the posts here about making sure the source output (i.e the bluray player) is
putting out the correct signal (i.e PCM or Auto) before thinking it was the receiver. My bluray player
is a Sony BDP-S550 and when I test the HDMI audio, I assign the output jack priority to HDMI and specify the
HDMI audio to AUTO vs 2ch PCM.
After setting those specs, I go to the receiver and specify the HDMI control to ON which, I assume, locks the audio
input to whatever comes from the HDMI source since I can't assign a different audio input on the HDMI jack. I then set the receiver to AUTO and DIRECT but to no avail as no sound comes through.
When I test for the 2ch PCM, I set the BDP-S550 HDMI output to 2ch PCM (vs AUTO) but leave the output jack priority to HDMI. I then assign the receiver to DIRECT and DIRECT PCM is displayed along with the sound.
When I test for the Multi Channel Audio, I set the BDP-S550 output jack priority to Multi Channel Analog. On the receiver, I set the HDMI Control to OFF and then assign the multi channel inputs to the HDMI port where the video is coming through. Works great on the multi-channel analog inputs.
I ran through the diagnostic chart in the service manual and if you get 2ch PCM and Multi Channel Analog out, it indicates there is a problem with the DSPs but I couldn't find any visual damage or indications from the unit's display that something was wrong.
I'm hoping it isn't the D-MOTHER ASSY that is at fault (Board with the DSPs) as that part is close to what I paid
for the receiver. The Multi Channel Analog connection does work great but I think I am losing a lot of functionality by not having access to the Ipod or any digital signal processing.
