I have been looking for a receiver for my computer/spare room.Originally, I was going to take my VSX-21txh in the living room and place it in room mentioned above. After asking the wife she likes it where it is

Now I have been doing research on the SC-05 and heard great things about it and was going to pull the trigger a buy a used one. However,a few days ago I happened to run across a link to a UMC-1 and found it to be another option. Both seem to have everything I need except the UMC-1 need's an amp which in no problem.

I would like some input between the two if anyone has had any experiences with both units.Anything would help.

Thanks,
Anthony

Have no experience with the UMC1, but my vote would be for the Pioneer. I have no thoughts of upgrading/switching from my sc-05.

Pair the UMC-1 with a decent amp, that would be my vote.

Pioneer gets my vote. For HT all you will ever need is this, unless you want 3d processing. The ICE amps are plenty good for all but the most demanding HT setups. Grab it and don't look back.
