Went to see a movie last night. Midnight in Paris. Interesting movie but, 99% of the sound was from the center. Was it the movie or was something wrong with the sound system? That was the first movie I have gone to see that was like that in probably 10-15 years or more! What gives? The theater was rigged for 7.1.

Not knowing that movie, it makes me think it's not setup correctly. Even a home theater system we need to balance a system for best sound.

Yeah. This just caught me as odd. The sound was litterally coming from the center of the screen the whole time! My guess is bad set up.

    Something was wrong.

You went to see 'Midnight in Paris'! thats what was wrong! ;)

Haven't seen the movie, but its entirely possible that nothing was wrong with the theatre. A lot of what you here in drama/romantic comedy is dialogue, and that is almost always center channel.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

of course, that movie doesn't have much actions, of course most of the time you're hearing from the center. Pop in some real action movies and you will hear

The movie wasn't THAT bad. Fun premise but not exicuted as well as it could have been. Yeah, it was mostly dialog but you would think there would be a little surround action? You don't have to go see a action/adventure, everything blows up movie ALL the time!
