The name says it all, are you wanting to replace your caps, resistors or inductors?
Although I am new to this, I recently did my own XOs with success I would like more experience and expand my skills.
The deal is simple, purchase all the parts you need and for now I will donate my time, solder wick and solder to complete the project.
If your interested please either respond here or shoot me a private message.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

That is a nice offer, but I have some questions.
What is the guarantee? New speakers if the mods do not work? What collateral will you offer in exchange for having somebody's x-overs until they are returned to the owner in working condition? People have been burnt big-time by others doing this task, and not returning the x-overs, or doing shoddy work.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Alright Bluefox,
I will attempt to answer your questions as thoroughly as possible, ties up as many argumentative points as I can.
First, since your talking about trust as the main issue, I must concede that I do not have the years or x amounts of posts on this forum. I cant argue with that, you have 3,021, vrm3 a well know member and modder has 18k+ posts, I can say nothing.
Not to get o so deep and pseudo intellectual on you but trust, no matter what is always a leap of faith. No matter it is a guy asking for XOs to mod, the trust you put in your pilot not to crash the plane and the trust you put in your father, that today isnt the day he decides to snap and kill his children and then himself. Like I said every second is a leap of faith.
As far as my work and experience I can only cite my experience on my own speakers, hence the reason to branch out and experience more.
Here is my work for you to view and judge on your own terms. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?125139-Monitor-XO-build.
We all have to start some where, even Vrm3 with 18k+ posts and many mods later started out asking the very same questions I have.
here are is a citation, http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?101797-How-much
I have others to post but you can follow his growth in his profile and reading his experience on calculations, solder problems, what is this and what is that?, so my point is every one starts from 0.
Now, I will tackle your questions in specific.
1. What is the guarantee?
it can only be my word, I am not a conglomerate. I stand behind what I want to do and the mistakes I may or may not make. If i screw up I must fix it.
2. New speakers if the mods do not work?
No. Only companies will do a full exchange for a small problem.
If there is a problem after I worked on them, then I must diagnose and repair the problem at my expense since its my doing.
Unless you send me your entire speaker, and I trash the whole thing, then my wrecking the whole speaker warrants a new one.
For a citation, look at any service type business, does your auto mechanic by you a whole new car when he messes up? The answer is no, he simply repairs what the original problem was at his cost.
Even you should understand this in your field, I noticed you posted your a software engineer, if you make a product, test and then distribute, only to have a problem arise. Do you then take the product and completely destroy it and then start from fresh or do you dig into it and find the specific code or bug ( i dont design software) and repair it. The answer from a monetary and logical point is very clear.
I feel my point is clear.
3.What collateral will you offer in exchange for having somebody's x-overs until they are returned to the owner in working condition?
None.
Does Vrm3 offer to send you his Odessy amps to hold on to until he finishes your XO mods, in this thread?
http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?118558-I-would-like-to-mod-your-crossovers-revised
How efficient is exchanging collateral back and fourth? and then exchanging parts and labor for both parties to be involved in a mod?
Might as well just take the money and buy the next tier higher of speakers.
Again, I cite my above answer on trust, leap of faith. if you cant take the leap, then we can not have business.
4.People have been burnt big-time by others doing this task, and not returning the x-overs, or doing shoddy work.
While this isnt a question I will comment and answer you with a question.
Sadly your statement is true, there are bad people out there, I take this statement as a over the internet trust issue. Which I stated earlier is always a leap of faith, I can only give you my word, that I am honest, my skills are green but I would like to enhance them and I stand by my work.
My question to you is this, When arnt people getting ripped off? the dishonest mechanic taking advantage of your lack of knowledge of auto repairs, Nike selling you a shoe for $150, when it is sewn in a foreign sweat shop by a kid who makes 100 pairs a day and earns $1 dollar a week. The face to face mom and pop electronic repair shop that rips you off blind, then smiles to your face so you believe in their good service?
I'd like to see your answer, then I pose you this other question, what are you going to do with all the bad people, shoot em? what does that make you?
I would like to close with this final thought, I posted this thread on CP because there is a feeling of community here.
I am not well known, but people around here can view my work and pass their own opinion about my skills, most are supportive.
I am trying to state that through participating in the community people have seen me going from whats a capacitor to making a judgement on which one and the value to replace in my gear.
They have seen me formulate my own opinions and experiences, not to start a war, but my thoughts on speaker cables, how i feel that the most important factor in wires and cables is the conductor and not who makes the cables. I could care less if its MIT or DH labs, pure copper is pure copper, pure silver is pure silver, you cant change the elements. Ill stop before a cable versus wire and all that junk starts up here. My point is I have formulated these ideas and support for my conclusions from being here and researching on my own time, that I am a member of the community and until proven different should have a growing amount of trust.
Take a leap, you might like what happens.
I hope my answers are clear. I feel they are.
Thank you for reading and your consideration.

Good answer. Still, caveat emptor.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

caveat emptor
Definition:
1. Buyer beware, : a principle in commerce: without a warranty the buyer takes the risk.
2. Under the doctrine of caveat emptor, the buyer could not recover from the seller for defects on the property that rendered the property unfit for ordinary purposes.
Thanks for crappin on me.

I think his point is there are so many long standing members that offer modifications at such a low cost he is just cautious...
There are currently 3 or 4 long standing members offering modifications.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Fair.
I had never heard that latin phrase which is why i went out for the definition, I am aware of the english phrase, posting its seems to me a bit unwarranted, as I see the term as a negative.
Like your kid falls off his bike when first riding it, and you offer the encouraging words, "good job, but you suck"
Or a burger joint, "they have the best burgers in the world, but i would never eat there if i were you."
Thats how i understand the denotation and connotation of the phrase.
anyways, everything seems to have lost its purpose, so Ill just let this thread float away and try again later.
Fly, thread, fly fly.

Hey ESR,
Maybe a way to get started is to meet some local Club Polk members and do Xovers for them, post your work + pics, and start to build a reputation. I'm sure there are other members near you.
The thing is there was a long time member here who did mods for lots of folks, built cables, etc. It seems that he did good work for quite a while, and then something changed. He kept accepting work, but not getting it turned around. I think there may have been a few instances in which some of his work was sub standard as well. Any how, all that made people a bit jittery about sending their Xovers out. I don't think it's anything against you personally."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
Now that my friend is worth while advice.
infinitely better than, caveat emptor. so much better, that i will post in the thread I wanted to float away.
There is but one hitch, How do i find or search for people in my area? I haven't found a function on the forum that lets me organize people by region, if they even post a region, can you advise on such a function?
or is it as simple as posting a thread for people in the nashville region want to meet and discuss some mods?
please shed some light on the possibilities that i might be missing.
thank you for your time

Why don't you reach out to Shack, a long standing and well regarded member who resides in Tenn. Also, based on the one time I met him, a hellava nice guy. -

Hmmmmm, not sure how to find people in your area other than by starting a thread in this forum. Maybe if you pm one of the moderators you can get some ideas."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer
