I still remember hearing the news while watching Monday Night Football. The game didn't seem so important after that. What a loss. I just turned the game off and turned the radio on. I actually felt i lost a good friend. I still remember first seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Been hooked since. Now that would have been a reunion worth seeing. No more. Rest in peace Mr. Lennon for you are truely missed.

I was living about 40 blocks directly North of the Dakota (Upper West Side). The news was jolting, I routinely walked past the building (had a part-time job not far from there when I was a student). A sad day, indeed! It took us many days to actually "accept" that this actually happened!

    I don't remember.

I've never really thought of it as a life altering moment that was worth remembering what I was doing the moment I heard he was killed.

1980 was the year I joined the military so it was a full busy year of training for me so this was almost casual news (too busy to make a big deal out of it) despite being a faithfull fan of the Beatles and their solo career.

I was a senior in High School and (strange but true) I was in the library reading a book about The Beatles when I heard the news. I actually added the information to the last page of the book. My mom turned me onto The Beatles when I was in high school. She bought a different Beatles album every month and we listened and talked. The Beatles are my favorite band ever and this was truly a sad day. My Mom was extremely upset.

In my college dorm room when someone stuck their head in the door and said he had been shot. I gave up studying anymore that night and just sat in a dark room listening to all the radio coverage. My favorite band always has been the Beatles. I felt like a family member had been killed. I was stunned....

+1. Myself and a friend were kinda bummed out over this that day so we cut several classes and went over his house to watch the news. Kind of a bittersweet date (December 8th) because it is my second son's birthday.

I was 14 and my mom told me when she woke me up for school. She had seen the Beatles in Baltimore when she was just 17. Through her I had become a big fan, too. We bought Double Fantasy soon after and I wore it out... Well, at least John's songs.

I was driving from State College, PA to Harrisburg. I was on the road about 5:00am and turned on the radio and noticed that every station was playing the Beatles or John Lennon songs. I didn't know why until about 30 minutes later when the news finally came on. Was driving with tears in my eyes. I wanted to drive straight to NY City to the Dakota but I had obligations that I couldn't get out of. Or else I would have been part of the masses there for the next few days. I "came of age" listening to the Beatles music in the 60s. It was one of those moments like when JFK was assassinated. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I remember watching monday night foodball with my dad and brother and Howard Cosell announced that John Lennon had been shot. My dad then turned on the radio at that point and we listened to news reports about the shooting and the announcement that John Lennon was dead. I was 8 years old. Very sad.:sad:

Watching MNF. Still remember it. You could just feel that the announcement took all the energy out of the game & certainly out of the announcers. I was stunned & trying to figure out or get a handle on what that kind of loss would mean. Big time bummer.

Not a clue. Most likely working a night shift at work. Not a big deal to me. Celebrities don't
have much impact on me. I don't care what they do, how they live, or when they die.
I don't like the fact this crazy got a gun and killed someone, famous or not.
