Back on topic, the diss'ing of RUSH:

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/12/07/143261555/shouldnt-rush-be-in-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame

Even the president and CEO of the Rock Hall concedes the band should be honored. "They simply haven't gotten enough votes to make the ballot," Terry Stewart told Cleveland's The Plain Dealer earlier this year. "I can't tell you why. Based on impact, influence, innovation, and excellence, they're worthy. I think it's just a matter of time before it happens."

    So who does the voting????

The fact that RUSH once again was left off the list tells me the Hall of Shame is BS! The fact that ABBA is in the Hall backs up my point.

No doubt. I won't give a crap until Rush gets in and then still probably won't give a crap.

That GNR made it in before Rush puzzles me. I guess those that voted for them thinks that Slash is a better Guitarist than Alex Liefson, which explains why the RnR Hall of Fame is a joke

Getting into the HoF is more of a personality contest than it is anything else. If it were based on things like talent, record sales and the ability to fill a concert venue, Half the acts in the Hof would not be there and a ton of other acts would be there instead.

It's not who you know, its who you.... well you get the idea.

Rush, Kiss, and a bunch of others are not interested in kissing the requisite number of a$ses needed to make the cut, and I applaud them for it.

Yep, those two. Rock and roll idiot nominating commitee are too dumb to admit quality musicians and quality music. Gun's-N-Roses before YES, Moody Blues and Rush?!?! Prime example of their idiocy. Oh well, I guess I don't watch the induction show anyway (and for good reason).

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I guess I like Rush as well as the next fellow but he ain't HOF material. All I heard him do is talk alot and sometimes he'll spin a record but I ain't never herd him sing nothin. I guess if Rush can make it Larry King is old enough too.

Love 'em or hate 'em, but the record sales, concert tours, fan base, and longevity all support the case that they belong in the hof. Not popular in audiophile circles, but plenty popular...

Ah, for a second there I thought you were implying that Rush didn't belong in the hof. I don't feel that they're "incomplete" without being inducted, I just don't get why they are continually snubbed. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts get nomintated, but not Rush? I just don't get it...

Besides, who the hell wants to see Rush in the same place as Madonna?***shiver***

Nice! The Beastie Boys and the Chili Peppers are both very deserving of that IMO. The rest? Ehh...whatever. GnR I guess kinda deserves it, though I personally don't care much for them. BB and RHCP have both had a very big influence on rock music though. Many people write off the Beastie Boys without ever having really explored their music.

Beasty Boys started off as a punk rock band, then got into hip hop. From their choices of music I think they wanted to have a little fun with that genre. They put out a lot of different stuff that people aren't aware of, just as Adam Sandler has some off color comedy acts not in the mainstream.

There are a lot of good rock bands that easily could be inducted but I'm assuming that they only do a few a year for a reason. I agree with Rush and Moody Blues being more than qualified to get in. I mean, Beastie Boys, why not Supertramp? I have no idea what system is used to determine the inductees but it is weird. I would never have categorized Maddona as Rock and Roll.

I don't hate on Abba, I'm brave enough to admit. They don't get much play when I'm listening to my real gear, but if you put them on at a party, you generally get a lot of smiles and people dancing. I saw Mama Mia in London, it was really good. Tons of people dancing in the aisles, etc. Definitely the kings and queens of the disco sucks era, but you can't discount them. Fan base, record sales, etc., the numbers are all there. And they've stood the test of time. And compared to most of the crap that's put out today, if given the choice I don't have a problem listening to Abba.

I usually agree with you but ABBA is not Rock and or Roll, and if you can point out an ABBA rock tune I would glad change my mind. If this is you train what about the Bee Gees? Or are they in already I don't know cause honestly the whole thing is sad.

Toolfan, you are right it has become the rock and roll hall of shame.

Abba may not be my choice for listening, but is just as much rock, perhaps more, than the iconoclastic, virtuoso, ten years behind the times crap that you lament about not being in the R&R HoF.
