Question: B&W 685 vs Paradigm Studio 20 V.5
I think I upset my local hifi dealer I bought a used but mint pair of Paradigm Studio 20 V.5, still havent arrived ... and called my local dealer to purchase the stands through (Paradigm J-29 stand) to still give him some business as I could have just as easily bought them online with free shipping. He did give me tax off though.
He indicated that he wished I had of asked him first before I bought these ... of course he would have ... as he would have recommended the BW 685 in the 600-700$ range. Although I have not heard either one I looked online and noted the Paradigm's retail for $1499. Its hard for me to believe that a 600$ bookshelf (BW) is as good as the (1499$) paradigm. I would easily dismiss his comments though he carries both lines, its just that I snagged a mint used pair from elsewhere.
Does anyone have experience with these two bookshelves. I figured I was and am pleased with my purchase as I have read the Studio 20s have garnered book shelf of the year a few times in the moderate price range.
Any thoughts on these two speakers for those who have experience with one or the other or both?
Thanks.

Why not wait till they arrive and then bring them to his store for a A/B test. If the BW ones win out see if he will swap ya for em (with some cash on top maybe).
I know my local hi-fi shop was all for my bringing in the LSiM speakers to test against the Studio 20's and the like."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." That is a good idea. I will be heading into the city on the weekend. I will check out what he has on the floor for demo, they dont tend to have a lot, perhaps not even the BW 685s he was trying to get me interested in. If he does have them next visit after that I would be happy to take in my Paradigm's and do an A-B comparison. I know he has a pair of BW 802Di's running on new Mac equipment which might not be a fair comparison to my Paradigm's and Rotel gear
