Coming in 2013....
Dodge revealed teaser shots of their Dart compact car, designed to replace the wretched Caliber crossover, and so far it looks to be the first hit of Alfa Romeo-inspired product for North America.

Using the underpinings of the lovely Alfa Giulietta compact, the Dart will use a 1.4L turbocharged Fiat MultiAir engine ? good for 168 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque while returning a reported 39 mpg. Other engines include a 2.0L and 2.4L ?Tigershark? 4-cylinder, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A 9-speed automatic is said to be available at a later date.

Other features include a dual exhaust and 4-wheel independent suspension. The Dart will be built at Chrysler?s Illinois plant, and will get a proper reveal at the 2012 North American International Auto Show.

My Mom had a 64 or 65 Dart w/225 slant six & pushbutton automatic when I got my drivers license. I did my level best to kill that car, couldn't do it !

Meh, I'd rather have a Yugo with a V12 engine.

    You already have it.

    It's called the Charger.

    Roadrunner is a Plymouth.

    Plymouth is dead.

9-speed? Betting it's a stepped CVT. Wish they'd just get rid of the foolishness and give us a true CVT.

    Edit: Apparently NOT a CVT.

But as the article says, the shifting can be imperceptible to the driver. At that point, why not go with a CVT? Puzzling.

The cheapest Hyundai now sports a 6-speed automatic, while its Genesis sedan comes with a 8-speed automatic. I believe even Chrysler's own 300 has a 8-speed. Only Toyota is still stuck with 4-speed automatic.

I miss the slant 6 Dart. I had one that I bought for $500. Ugly rusted POS that always ran.
You guys remember changing points on the distributor??? Points cap and plugs were about the only
thing that ever needed to be done to the car. I sold it for $300 back to the guy I bought it from.
The new ones will really have a tough time living up to the old ones.
