I just watched this on Amazon, and all I can say is......Ayn Rand was a fooking prophet!
In light of the recent interdiction by the gubmint, with regards to the Boeing plant in SC, combined with the rhetoric, coming from the OWS crowd, this movie was downright creepy.

I never read any of her books, and prolly won't read this one, until after I've seen the other 2 installments, but WOW, this is one freakishly relevent flick, considering the times.

Needless to say, the Hollywood movie critics hated it. I'm stunned:rolleyes:

Waiting on Netflix to send it to me. Had to read The Fountainhead in high school, and immediately became a fan of Ayn Rand. Still like Fountainhead a bit better than Atlas Shrugged. They made a film based on it in 1949, but it's a waste of time. Read the book instead.

Lol,that's funny, since when did Hollywood quit making movies that didn't make any money??? I don't listen to the liberal bias of the Hollywood critics. I missed seeing Atlas Shrugged Part 1 at the theaters so I'll spend my money on the Blu Ray of it:)

Never read anything by Ayn Rand? How old are you guys? Every coed I dated in college slept with one of her books under her pillow. I used to get in trouble all the time for suggesting what I considered real literature instead of Rand. lol

Eventually I had to read a couple of these works. Can you say pulp fiction? Not to rain on the parade but Rand was neither a top tier writer nor a profound philosophical thinker. But she does appeal to something in many people.

These days I'm for people reading "anything" that makes them think, and if that's what this is doing, great!

On a more ironic note: how can an Ayn Rand project possibly run out of money, surely one of the supermen would grab hold of it, raise three times the money needed, and it would become the best selling film of all time (at least that's what Rand would've advised those involved).

Rememder reading that book in high school. It made me wonder what kind of moron would think that he/she knew better than others what is best for them. Ayn Rand saw the Soviet Union as an utter failure both in concept and in practice. History has proven her correct.

I really think a little more history should be taught now and again.

Y'all be glad to know, it's opening in more theatres this time. Something about the theater chains BACKING the movie. Go figure.

I honestly believe, that if Rand were alive today, she'd prolly be in Gitmo by now.

No. I was wrong. I read Vol 1 did so poorly that they cutoff funding for vol 2 & 3. John Aglialoro got funding thru a private debt sale in early 2012. At the time i posted there wasn't the money for a part 2. He must be a big fan.

I seem to recall that Ayn Rand ended up on social security at the end of her life and the government paid for her health care.
