Driving While Intoxicated or Caffeinated?

From an email I was sent...

To all: Thought you should know.....

Please, take care of yourself. A recent joint study conducted by the Department of Health and the Department of Motor Vehicles indicates that 23% of traffic accidents are alcohol related.

This means that the remaining 77% are caused by a$$holes who drink bottled water, Starbucks coffee, soda, juice, energy drinks and crap like that. Therefore, beware of those who do not drink alcohol. They cause three times as many accidents.

This message is sent to you by someone who is occasional alcohol drinker, not driver and simply worries about your safety.
---
Hope you all have a great day.

I'm pretty sure that's an understood fact among the intelligent individuals present here Debbie Downer.

True, but I would assume that the comment was aimed at the not-so-intelligent individuals here...and there certainly are some that fall into that category.

What about driving under the influence of NO COFFEE? My daughter has to get a ride to HS everyday and it's 'early' for those of us who are not "morning" people and often work late into the night (2-3 AM). So when she wakes me up, I throw on my pants, put on a hat and stumble 'deliriously' to my car half awake and drive her. My reflexes are certainly not at their peak there! Fortunately the HS is only a half mile or so from the house. I'm counting the days to her 16th B-day! But that's two years away.

For those of you who love sunrise and wake up refreshed and feeling that it's great to be alive, be aware that you are members of an extraordinary group of human mutants who are in control of the work-a-day world and its absurdly "early" hours. Try hanging with us night owls for a few days and we'll cure you of your "perkiness"!

On this note. We have a city law on the books up here that allows anyone who is 'drinking' anything or 'eating' anything while driving (could be coffee, a coke, water, or a candy bar, an apple, half a sandwich, etc.) to be stopped and fined for doing so. It only applies within the city limits! So forget about alcohol and DUI. Don't drink the water, "literally". You have to wonder or maybe tie your right hand to the steering column as a precaution?

What, you've never seen Space 1999? lol

I don't know how this law got on the books but I can't tell you how many times I've had to stop myself from taking a sip of water or a bite of a sandwich half...this is pretty "ridiculous"!
