Hi Everyone,

I'm located in Southern Ontario, Canada and need some speakers. Wondering if any Canadians or Americans have some tips on the best value/performance for this amount of money.

Thanks so much,
Chris

What are you using as a source? HT or 2ch? If you have a beefy amp, you might want to save a little more for an LSi7. You might want to check out Future Shop. I'm sure they're clearing out the current RTi line there.

    Chris,
welcome to the forum! being in Canada, I would look into Paradigm series, if it's priced better than Polk. Strictly from best bang for buck, and I am assuming you're talking about $1k CAD, right?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

    Yes, it's Canadian funds.

I don't think I can afford anything that starts with "rti" on my budget!

Chris, I also suggest you audition Paradigm. You can get a cc370, 2 Mini Monitors, and 2 Atoms or Titans for 1k. Or look at the performance line. Check the website. I am also and in southern ON and Paradigms are a great value, youll get a discount of about 10% I suspect.Others have suggested the RTIs, also good if you can find them on sale. IMO polks have better highs, paradigm has better midrange but dont take my word for it.

Look around. The RTi line are being cleared out right now at low prices. You also might want to check out PSB and Energy. They're both Canadian and should be much cheaper here.

Just a quick look on the Futureshop website shows the rti38/csi30 for $500 Canadian(about $350 US). I can check at a Futureshop tomorrow(going there for work) for the prices on the rti70/csi40 combo, as they're not listed on their website. You should be able to get those for under 1K.

I'll post again tomorrow with some prices.

You could also add the fxi30 bi/dipoles for $350(Futureshop website).

I checked at Future Shop today, and here are the prices:

    rti70 $599.97
    csi40 $349.97

These are both clearance, so you should be able to get 10% off. That would make it $850 plus tax, which is about $1000.

I guess it's impossible to get the entire system (6 speakers) for under a grand...

Not if you want towers for the front. I don't know how this setup would be, but here goes:

    rti38 fronts $350
    fxi30 rears $350
    csi30 centre $150X2
    grand total $1000

I would lean toward the rti70/csi40 combo for the front soundstage and work on the rears gradually.
