Polk Audio Monitor Pairing Suggestions?

I'm going to be setting a dedicated HT room shortly and I'm looking for suggestions on speaker pairings.

The set up will be a small 8x10 room so I don't need anything major but I do want a nice sounding system.

Here's what I'm thinking....

Front: Monitor 70s
Rear: Monitor 50s
Center: CS2
Sub: PSW10

I'm wondering if possibly the 70s might be too much for a small room. Maybe 60s/50s? I've looked into the 30s for rears but I would prefer free standing over bookshelf. Also, CS1 vs. CS2?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If it's going to be dedicated HT, I would look at the RTi A5's or RTi 8's with a CSi A4 center and FXi 3 surrounds.

The Polk Ebay store should have most of them, if not all of them, for great prices.

They are a more detailed speaker, better for the dynamics of HT. Plus I think the Monitor 70's might be too large for your space.

And forget the PSW10... DO yourself a favor and look up the PSW505.

In my humble opinion, this is way too much stuff for an 8x10 room... If I were you I would be looking at, as someone already mentioned, rti8 or tria5, at the MOST, and maybe some rti4 as surrounds. You just don't need anything bigger... and definitely look into a better sub.

Thanks for the comments so far. The RTi line is a bit out of my budget. I'd like to stick with the Monitor line if possible.

The Rti 8's are on Polks ebay store with a BIN for $400 with free shipping... The Monitor 70's are still over $300.

If you're trying to keep to a budget, I would buy slowly. Get the front two or three channels and then keep adding as you have more money. Saves you a lot of money in long run by holding off the upgrade bug.

They also have the CSi 3 for $99...

Hard to beat that combo for your room for that price!
