I have a chance to buy a pair of these for $75 they are cosmetic 8/10 they come with stands and monster cable they just had some crossover work done and the guy that repaired them said the owner never showed up so he is selling them, I think they sound pretty darn good they are 20 some years old and are in decent shape. I was wondering if anyone has had these, heard these or would recomend them for that price? Thanks

A bit high for that set. They're nothing special in my opinion.

Those was my second set of speaks, bought new in 1985, paired with Hafler DH-110. Compared to today's B&W, or even LSi9, it would not be fair. For $75, may be not a bad deal, but I would pass personally. It was an entry-higher-end level back then.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have a pair I picked up earlier this year for $50 and felt like I got a good deal. They sound clean and crisp to me w/ decent low end but would obviously need a sub for below 50Hz. I haven't decided if I"m keeping mine or will try CL and ask $100. I think they are a pretty good speaker myself but don't have the $ to get into really nice speakers. They would make a nice office setup. I would be careful to find out why the crossover work was done. If they were preveously damaged I'd stay away, and if it was an upgrade I'd be curious as to what type of capacitors were used and if both sets were done on just one which could sound rather different than original. If they sound good to you and you can find a use for them I'd offer $60 and go from there.
