I just installed my APR Carbon Fiber CAI and APR Stage II chip for the A5 yesterday. Night and day....WOW. My next step is a AWE 3" Downpipe and then I'm done with engine mods. The new intake is well designed and the fit and finish is A+. It's designed to be a straighter path to the throttle body as well. There were two turns in the stock intake that really served no purpose. What I liked about this kit is that it uses some of the stock items to retain a OEM feel and every mount is stock, no new holes.

This has me at, roughly, 242HP/362TQ. There's a peak increase of +45HP and +95TQ. The torque is what's painfully obvious going from 258 stock to 362 but overall the car is a bit more fleet on its feet. I yanked the 50lb spare tire to ditch some uneeded weight in the rear end.

I have some Eibach springs ready but figure I'll upgrade to some Bilsteins at the same time so that's got to be saved up for. I'll do sway bars if possible at the same time but they can be put on later and easier.

Anyone else add any car widgits lately?

    APR is a great company.

I have similar on my VR6 GTi (ITG) and along with a chip, SS exhaust, Borla muffler. Not only is the sound awesome, but throttle response is much, much better.

Over the last year and a half, I have put an AEM brute force CAI, Bilstein front struts, Ikon rear shocks, and dual magnaflow exhaust on my truck. It sounds bad-a$$ and has a noticable increase in torque, especialy from a complete stop. Not sure what else I will do to it; might wait a bit and trade it in or decide to do some more mods (new headers or something). I have been so busy with work lately that the truck fun and audio fun has all but taken a back seat. Its not all bad since I have been able to save some money!!!

I replaced the stock Bilsteins on the truck with...another set of stock Bilstiens (122K miles they went bad at about 112K).

Had to get the cracked transmission crossmember replaced (couldn't handle the POWAH!!!!) so got urethane trans mounts installed while I was at it.

Put braided stainless steel brake lines on the front (rear has stainless steel tubing all the way to the calipers).

Have a new differential cover with bearing cap braces built in but I have to fix the U-Joints before I do that or I'll break something worse.

Sorry, not much else went on lately. Been throwing modifications at the house instead. I need a phono pre-amp for the stereo and then all other mods on everything else except the basement work are getting shelved while I restore the Lightning. Need new seat covers, re-wrapped steering wheel, new weather stripping, some interior bits, a new carpet and some bodywork (headlights, taillights, fog lamps, bumper covers, some rust on door frames etc etc) typical stuff from 122K miles of use. Then I'll get it detailed. Once that and the basement are done, I'll get back to tearing apart the Ranger.

I put a D3 CAI on the CTS along with an Xpipe to dual Magnaflows. Can't say I feel a difference, but you can certainly hear it! I really wish it was a turbo engine...

Added some 22s, K&N filters, LED interior lighting, LED rear tail lights, and some other small mods to my Mercedes S550. Also went 20% tint all around to enhance Mercedes electrochromatic glass. 6000K lighting all up front. It has a nice V8 already in it, so no engine mods for me. She's a beast on the road and turns heads everywhere. Just ordered audio components in case I decide to get rid of the Harman Kardon stuff in it.

95 ft of torque from an intake and chip? jesus!!!

my intake and tune in the Mustang did about 25 each at best, and made a significant difference at that.

Doro, you would probably see some results in suspension mods, but they are probably pricey as all hell in that Audi. can't neglect the chassis though

Here's my baby with the recent Rims and Nitto NT05 tires added 275/40/18 of sticky rubber all around . She's got a Watts Link where the Panhard bar used to be, a strut tower brace off a GT500 and a full Saleen Suspension front to back (springs, shocks and both sway bars) 3.73 gears do nicely as well. Handles way better than any Mustang should

next will be Brembo brakes, an aluminum driveshaft and I am entertaining subframe connectors. not worried about power at the moment....if well over 300 hp and 320 lb ft of torque isnt enough, then the terrorists have won

did alot of this during my Audio Hiatus as well :)

    Love the ride Sheradp!

Roger that Lou and your Mustang is P H A T white boy. I have the springs and will start pricing on the shocks. Agreed, handling is usually neglected or abbreviated and that's not happening. I mean how many bouncy, springs cut cars have we both seen on the road?

As far as prices go it's nothing above average unless its body parts. In if you want OEM Euro parts or try and "JDM" it.. The normal stuff under the hood and wheel well costs the same. That's my objective as I want it to be subtle, low key and only interested parties need apply kind of upgrades.

I sent off about 30+ lbs of parts to get Carbon Fiber'd today.

I installed 315/35/17 Nitto NT05's on all corners a few weeks ago. Prior to that, titanium brake pad shims, stainless steel caliper pistons, Ferodo DS2500 pads & Castrol SRF fluid.

Here's a thumbnail photo with 315 Hoosiers; Serendipity saw it at PolkFest. The car was in a chain reaction rear-end collision last week, caused by a 50-ish man in an Audi A8  Still drivable and just cosmetic damage but it's caused me to delay further changes until it's repaired.

Touch, nice truck, I always have a soft spot for the short bed step sides (despite the fact that my new truck is a long bed reg cab....rockin the whopping 4.3 litres o' fury) obviously I'm not a "fast truck" type of guy. that said, if you need a place for that 5.3 post swap....my engine bay is nice and secure..lol

Zing, when i see a car like that I wish I could make myself smaller in order to know what driving a car like that is like (temporarily). As it stands now I'd have to slather my whole torso in axle grease and get a running start to fit in that car

Audi A5 has a 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder. Forced induction can see those kinda of jumps with just a dyno tune easily. Stock Mustang Cobra with the supercharge DOHC 4.6L were seeing 70 horsepower and about 130 pound feet or torque with a conservative tune on an ECM and no other mods at JDM Engineering when they first came out.

It would be better if I was able to drive it since all I really do is work 50-60+ hours a week. 6 months, 1500 miles so far but at least my future resale is already looking rosy.

John - It's really one of the best engines I've had experience with over the years, from 1.8T and up. Even her Q5 being heavier still has some serious get up when the turbo spools up. Amazing. I wish she'd let me trick hers out since that would be a serious sleeper.

Zingo - It looks great! I miss my old Datsun 280Z('78), not that its a match but I miss no power anything and the feel of a real sports car minus love and affection.

Roads are pretty good where I live; I've noticed a little tramlining in certain conditions. Been my daily driver since fall of '98, has about 154K on the body. Just put a hand-built LS3 motor in last year. The engine and suspension mods force it into CP/SM/SM2 in the SCCA or NASA TTA. Still a pig at 3466lbs, plus my 6'4" 230lb frame. If it wasn't a daily driver I'd strip it and put a cage in it. I also like the idea of moving the motor to a Miata or S2000 (if I'd fit LOL).

Just watch it if you turn up the wick on that turbo. Those engines can pop like a cork if your tuner doesn't know what he's doing. I've seen a couple people with 2.0T's end up with very expensive repairs because of that. The TDi though, I know people pushing crazy levels of boost with no issues.

But that Turbo FSi engine is direct injection and that's the biggest reason it makes so much power. But it's an Audi so people aren't amazed that an Audi makes power. But when a company like Ford comes out with their EcoBoost tech with a 3.5L V6 with twin turbo chargers putting out 365 horsepower people notice because it's Ford and well, you know, "they suck!" But it's the same idea, same tech and it makes for very small, very light power plants generating disgusting amounts of go.

Thing is though, if you do start tweaking on the Q5, it's a pig. Currently it's tuned so that the power band can move it's copious mass effectively and the way an Audi should. So if you do do that, take it to someone who knows what they are doing otherwise you'll destroy the drivability of the car. If you push that power band too high in the RPM range, sure you'll have a bazillion horsepower but you'll need an airport runway just to be able to stretch the legs long enough to use it. That's part of the reason I like superchargers better for street use. Insane levels of power right off idle. My truck sees 50% of it's rated 450 pound feet of torque at 1500 RPM and builds to peak by about 2200 RPM and stays there through redline. Horsepower peaks high, around 4400 RPM but when there's almost 400 of them, for a street car, it doesn't matter. For racing, you need turbos like this!
