Klipsch Forte II

Evidently, I need to learn how to "just say no..." However, I just couldn't resist these at $35. They seem to be functional, just somewhat dirty and in need of some gentle cleaning, and based on a little research on the Klipsch forum, perhaps a light treatment of boiled linseed oil. I'll probably do a little more reading over there to find out the preferred approaches to restoring these. I'm thinking the drivers could probably stand to be sealed a little better, if I find anything like the deteriorated seals on the Heresy speaker I recently disassembled (its mate is in the middle here).

Killer deal! Had a pair of the original Fortes & loved them. EVERYONE says they play nicely with tubes.
Good job!"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
Holy Cow, What an awesome deal. Linseed works wonders on the cabs.

CRAZY! My pair was about double that price, but the cabs are in great shape except for one long scratch. I'm about to hook some tubes up this week for the first time in two years (actually ever for me).Main Surround -

Tung oil leaves a better finish but, dispose of rags from either oil properly or..........they can burn down your house ! (spontaneous combustion)

I've always wanted to hear the Forte IIs compared to my beloved Forte I.

I want to do the x-over mod and Crites diaphragms...but alas things have changed and I made the decision to part with them. Who knows, I may end up not selling them and wrapping them up in the attic for a future venture.
That is, after I put some tubes on them this week. Their biggest downfall is their stock xover - it's just some caps glued to the back of the terminal cups.Main Surround -

I almost made an offer on a pair of those a few weeks ago at an estate sale. I passed because I had no idea what they were worth. However, I probably could have nabbed them for $75. I'm interested in your impressions.

You could resell them for $400+.....for $75 I would have ran with them home. Oh wait, I already did once! heheMain Surround -
