Ok so heres the deal I made a mobile mp3 speaker system for my dog to carry. She has a backpack and im going to attach it to that. I used old set of computer speakers and wired it to 9v battery and used the amp that was with the speakers. It sounds good but i want to get the weight off her back and spine. So im going to make something similar to this http://www.thewoofer.com/ but just way better and not in a fleece coat since i live in texas. We play disc golf a lot so i need something that is rugged cuz she chases the disc and marks the spot for me.

So to the problem what speakers should i get full range mid range? i dont know crap about this i can just build things easily so your expertise is much appreciated

Forgive my stupidity, but wouldn't it be easier for you to just carry an IPOD ? Whats the purpose for the dog to carry the gear ?

Wear an ipod, or have the dog pull a small cart? So when you're standing still there is no weight on them. I'm going to assume this isn't a service dog, as you're able to play disc golf.... you shouldn't really have them 'work' for you.

I have a german shepherd if you dont give them jobs they go crazy. The other set up I made is only 2 pds but I just want to move the weight and its nice because there is always a group of us so everyone gets to enjoy the music not just me when I'm alone I use headphones and jam pandora but my dog loves doing stuff for the group and feeling important.

I really need advice on small speakers that i could add to her backpack that would be small lightweight but rugged enough to handle a little abuse and not to expensive because i will replace them when they break.

So get car speakers.. some 5.25" of any series will do fine.

Never mind....they do make portable speakers for Ipods and such for you to share with your group. The dog can give a rats **** about the music, it wants your attention. Yes, I am a GS owner too, and just like a kid, it needs your undivided attention at times.

Seeing how sensitive a dogs ears are, you really think it's a good idea to strap a cone to the dog and belt out music loud enough for the whole group ? Just because you CAN do something doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.

I'm not looking at blowing her eardrums out s#$t didnt know this was going to turn into you should or shouldnt I'm not asking for permission but thanks for the concern just looking at what I can buy similar to that woofers speakers to put on the back end of the bag....

@tonyb I have had many GS in my life and they need jobs whether its carrying water to neighbors or carrying their own food and water on a hike. They are work dogs and the longest it would be on her is 45 mins but I also wanna use it on walks and such as she wears her backpack most of the time when we leave the house she loves it.

So get a cart like i said... you'll have more room for gear/beer, and the dog only has to pull, not carry.

cart is a great idea but she is trained to mark the discs so you throw she chases it and sits where the disc landed so you can find it without really looking.

Not sure why you want to but like someone else said some 5.25 coaxial car speakers should do the job. By the way that fleece thing with the speakers looks ridiculous. But to each there own.

I'm a German shepherd owner too, and believe me I wouldn't strap anything to him like that and he's as strong as an ox, 115lbs, and extremely agile. My 5th shepherd so I'm also a long term owner of this breed also. I think it's ridiculous.

Good looking boy there Mike. About the same size as mine too. Best breed I ever owned. Smart as a whip, great with kids, love these dogs.

Skely- I know these dogs need things to do, exercise. All I'm saying is if music is the objective, you have other options that take the dog out of the equation.

Thanks Tony. If I bought speakers on him, that would give all the squirrels an unfair advantage!!!

    LoL that picture is awesome

I was looking for something like 3 inch or smaller trying to keep it as light as possible any suggestions on something that would be rugged enough to take some abuse
