I have a pair of Ads l710s. The stands I have are not the stands for the speakers, but I use them right now. My question is, if I was to raise them higher off the floor, would they sound better and would it be worth it??

It is worth it to get your tweeters to project as close to ear level as possible. You can accomplish this by stand height or tilt.

Raising them will lift the soundstage to the level they are on. If they are in a busy room, (Lots of furniture and items around, than lifting them may help get the sound across.

I have seen these speakers on smaller stands such as what you have and much taller stands in the 24" height zone. Both ways sounded very good. I prefer a little more height myself. Maybe 18-24"off the floor for a speaker that large.

Can you pick up some cheap milk crates (walmart school section) to experiment with various heights? I tend to prefer bookshelfs higher than "normal" with my ear between the tweeter and woofer.

Milk crates huh? sounds like a good idea. Thanks. I'll have to rig something up.

Just throw a bath towel on them so you don't scratch up your speaker bottoms. In my 70's mancave, I have the Pioneer HPM 40's on 2 milk crates, each. Seems like a good height. These big woofer/small cabinet combos can be pretty boomy, so raising them up, and out from walls can help.

I've built custom (but crappy looking) stands out of 2x6s using a H pattern. This got them off the floor just far enough for me until I was able to solve the problem in a better fashion.
