I have a nice pair of RCA "Clear Top" Tektronix tested and selected 12AU7 tubes for sale. I cannot say what year(s) they are from as the Tektronix labels are directly over the RCA labels (mostly) and the date codes are covered. They are physically in excellent shape. The pins look virtually new. Tektronix is a corporation that specialises in testing, monitoring and measuring electronic equipment. These RCA tubes were hand tested and selected by Tektronix for lowest noise and most balanced triodes of the "clear top" tubes. They are rare to come by in RCA "clear tops". I bought these tubes about 8 or 9 years ago and have only used them about 20 to 30 hours at the most in that time. I have many other RCA clear tops and used them more than these as I was looking for that certain piece of equipment (CD player, pre-amp, amp) to use them in. I have not used them in about 6 or so years and decided to sell them as I have way too many tubes. I guarantee you won't see another pair of Tektronix tested and selected RCA "clear tops" (or any tube for that matter) for a long time. The tubes come in their original boxes as you can see in the pictures. I am looking for $65.00 plus shipping for them. I tested these tubes on a calibrated Hickok 800A with the following results:

Tube 1: Triode 1 is 2,000 and Triode 2 is 2,000
Tube 2: Triode 1 is 2,100 and Triode 2 is 2,050

Below are some pictures.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Interested in what you think of those clear tops compared with what you're currently running in your Candela.

I have responded a few times with the appropriate information to obtain a shipping quote...

I guess there is a disconnect here - either way this deal does not appear to be meant to be

I am going to let these remain for sale.

These are great tubes from what I read so someone needing some 12au7 grab these!

    Thanks!

Sorry it took so long to get back to this one but I just now today had a chance to hook these up!

Greg packaged them really well and were as described... my only recommendation would be to just pick out a shipped price in the future :-D - For a small box just throw like 7 bucks on it and be done ;-D - Other than that he is great.

A fellow member asked about the sound - right off the bat I think I am just a RCA tube fan... I have used the blackplates and the clear tops now and they just sound damn good. I like the clear tops better than the Mullards I was running - something just seemed a tad off, did not sound bad, just off with the Mullards. Now the RCA tubes are in the mix the high end is a little cleaner and the stage is a bit more refined...

As far as the clear tops versus the blackplates, thats a tough one - the blackplates as of this moment may remain my favorite!

    Thanks again Greg!

Glad you are enjoying them Trey. The clear tops are very nice. Not as smooth and creamy as the blackplate RCA's. Try some Mullard long plates from the late 1950's with some D-getters. I have a pair of these and they are very nice 12AU7's. Smoother than the clear tops, but not quite as detailed. For Mullards, I believe they are the best though.

Interesting! I'm totally blown away by how good the clear tops sound in my Candela. I'll have to try some blackplates.
