Guess I'm guilty of derailing my own thread here, eh?

Kinda was my first post's point... ...so let me help you get back on track...

First, want to say I'm glad you found another positive, audio move.... love it when that happens. And yes, I've spent over $80 on IC's. That said...

The MFG's site's tag line is "Where Sound Meets Science". I'm really not sure where the science is here.

Can't be the slapping flexible strip magnets as their static magnetic field would do squat in protecting the signal from spurious, external mag fields.

So I'm thinking it must be in the pure silver plating of the OFHC copper wire... gotta get my skin effects read on... it's been awhile...

But later...gotta watch OSU beat Duke now...
    More later,
    Tour...

Guilty as charged Bruce....frankly though, I don't pay attention, or probably as much as I should to marketing voodoo. I just let my ears be the judge regardless if it has a flux capacitor in it or some other alien technology. My ears tell me these are a great bang for your buck cable, period.

Incidently, the $80 cable remark was to thwart off the higher priced cables are B.S. crowd. I've had 300 buck IC's that I didn't like as much as these. Just sayin' is all. Doesn't mean all higher end cables don't sound as good either. Synergy is the word, seek it out.

Ah geez Tony...you're no fun!! I was just getting ready to pop some popcorn & wait for the fireworks to begin. Glad to hear you found some nice cables that are working well in your system. I'm with you on not having to spend mucho $$$$$ to get great sound.

My cheap Radio shack cables and stuff always sounded good to me........Still glad I bought MIT cables though.

In my experience it's the DAC. It's pretty incredible how good a std. 16 bit recording can sound thru a really good DAC.

Buy a nice turntable, set it up correctly with say a Denon 103R cartridge, a decont phono preamp (preferrably toobs) for your vinyl, and a decent SACD player for your CDs.

Like I said, always glad to read about an audio grin... and in my case the grin size is always inversely proportional to the price tag. Problem I have is sooner or later I quit grinnin' and try to figure out why I was grinning... or in this case why you were. My curse I know. As you may remember, I am an Engineer... or at least was one once-upon-a-time. The rest was just thinking aloud...

Along those lines... Thought some more and I do not care how strong their mag strips are, any external mag field will affect the IC signal exactly the same as it would if the ag strips weren't there. Also the site's statement about the signal generating it's own protective mag field because it's passing thru the permanent field... What???

At any rate in this instance I blame you for getting me thinking... because your "digital/ silver" OP opening started me thinking, "Why does he think he's hearing the silver and not the copper core?" From the little description they have of the wire, initial thought was ultra-thin Silver coating on solid core, 22 ga HPLO copper, but have to admit I couldn't tell what the wire construction was from the pics of the spool, i.e., solid core or multistand.

Plus you seemed to have been impressed right out of the shoot, as did another reviewer on the site. And if anything is even more universally agreed upon than silver-digital incompatibility, it's that silver needs extensive break-in. Of course that's just off of the top of my head...

Which DAC? Huge AA fan here... DAC's (DDE"S), DTI's, DLC's, ... even have a supply of their RCA interconnects (not magnetically shielded... ), their HPA and the one amp they made. Need to try one of Dusty's Channel Island creations one of these days.

AA made the VITB*, too... (*Vac-in-the-Box). It's a major grin inducer that I swear by...
