Can anyone explain the diff between monitor 60 and monitor 60 series 2 ?

Were there 2 different production runs? And how can I tell if mine are garden-variety, or series 2 ?

Thx,

I have series 1 M60's and replaced them with M70 series 2... near as I can tell.. the difference is in the black face as opposed to the silver.

Pretty sure it's just cosmetic changes and Newegg is the only retailer that carries the series 2 as far as I know.

Different colored rings around the speakers, and the series II grills are black, the originals are more of a dark grey in color.

I can't remember for the life of me if I read it here somewhere, or if I actually found something "official" - but the series II from newegg (exclusive) are series I (doesnt really exist, they are just called Monitors) with some TSi parts.

All I know is my M70 series 2 (bought from Newegg at about $350) look a lot better with the grilles off than any of my other Monitors.

I have to disagree the black looks awful with the cherry IMO. I loved the early 2000's silver, I wish it wouldn't have went out of style. I just seen a Hitachi plasma sitting on the curb on trash day a few houses down, it was silver. I thought it was cool.

Yes it is on the workbench in my garage, and everything but the coax works :)I think that was my first garbage pick!My fiancee was embarrased but oh well thats my M O

But I liked the Silver, and I made sure that was what I ordered, with the grills they are black anyhow so it's a moot point.

Are you talking about the Hitachi that has the silver/black grills, or the speakers? I had one of the older hitachi ultravisions and I loved it. As far as the speakers, I can't say that I've seen (in person) the original Monitors, but I like the series II. I've got the cherry as well. I think part of it is that the black is a "definate" color. The grey could be construed as washed out perhaps? Again, this is without actually seeing a pair for my own eyes.
