Matching center channels

Hey all, long time reader 1st time poster. I'm currently replacing an old set of rti-100s with Monitor 60s and wondering if my cs30 center channel will sound ok with them. I know they're not technically the matching center but they all share 5.25" woofers and the 1" silk dome tweeter, are there other differences or should this be fine? Of course I'll listen to them with my cs30 when they arrive but just curious if anyone has experimented with old centers and how it sounded to you.

    Welxome to CP!

That center should match very well. If you don't like it, the appropriate matching center would be the CS2, which you can find for 100 bucks new when newegg has a sale on it. It won't be a huge improvement over the csi30, though, so I think you'll be fine to stick with what you've got. Congrats on the new speakers! Stick around and let us know how it sounds!

Well just got the M60s hooked up and it's hard to really review them so early but they definitely blend in fine with my center channel which isn't too surprising since they all share silk dome tweeters and 5 1/4 drivers.

They should blend fine I agree. What type if power are you running them with.

    I'm using an HK AVR 525, so 85 x 2 in stereo.

Are you running surrounds as well or just 3.1 you may consider bi amping them. Your getting 85 watts peak so probably quite a bit less. Your surround channels put out 75well watts but if you have a "b" channel it may be worth trying. Don't forget to remove the gold bridge plates as well.

I am running surrounds, the receiver is 7.1 though so I do have 2 extra channels but I don't think I can use them to bi-amp my fronts, haven't really looked into it too much though.

Bad idea, you do realize by trying to use those last 2 channels for the fronts will result in all channels getting less power, considerably less.

Well it's rated at 70 x 7 all channels driven, HK is one of the few that gives honest watt ratings but either way I'm happy with the way they sound as is so I don't have a desire to bi-amp them.
