The Movie Score Thread

We've had threads about composers and movie scores before, but wanted to take a different approach with this one. Instead of just talking about composers and films, I thought it would be good to have specific examples.

Up for karma will be 2 CDs. One is a sealed copy of the score for Pirates Of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides and the other is a CD that I'll pull at random from my movie score collection (about 60 titles there in all, none of them suck).

The Rules:
Below I've posted some of my favorite pieces of movie scoring. You'll notice a pattern with each listing (artist, movie, track name, and a link to that track somewhere). To be in, all you have to do is post the same:
1 - Post using the same format and include a link
2 - Post something new, you're welcome to second someone's else choice, but to be in you must post a new choice of your own.
3 - Scores only, so posting 'California Dreamin' from Forest Gump doesn't count.

My list could go on for miles, but I had to stop at 15 titles.

Nice Karma, but to much work for me. However, an excellent movie soundtrack is Requiem for a Dream by Kronos Quartet.

One of the legends is the opening theme from "Gone With the Wind", though I cannot remember the composer. The opening theme from "Somewhere in Time" was also very good.

Ahhh, Shawshank Redemption - wonderful movie. The scene with the duet from "The Marriage of Figaro" was what got me into Mozart.

    Cool Karma -

    I'm In.

This is a link to my favorite musically scored scene - the Asteroid Scene from Empire Strikes Back. Once you listen to it without the movie, then add it in, and see how awesome it is - and how it uses all the themes of different Star Wars characters - SUPER COOL!

would love to be in, but looking up stuff on youtube takes hours on my connection. Just to watch a 5 minute video takes over an hour to download.

Any how if i was to participate I would mention the scores for the original Harry Potter, Ant the The latest Star Trek.

    Why? Are you on dial-up?
I never thought of watching YouTube videos as downloading, although technically it may be. I click on it, and in a second or two it starts playing. I guess I'd call it streaming, instead of downloading, since it doesn't go to your desktop.
If you're not on dial-up, something bad is wrong. You should be calling the cable or DSL company to come fix it.
Good luck! If you are on dial-up, sorry, I know how you feel............

Hey I come from the generation where you waited 20+ min for a game to load on your comodore 64. So I know what patience is, the only difference from the rest of my generation is I can still practice it.

Crap when I had dial up the speed was the same, man I miss cable.

I must be from the same generation. I still have my Commodore 64 somewhere, but it hasn't worked in over 20 years. I don't remember it taking that long to load a game though. It was amazing what you could do with 64k back then. I still have some software for it too..........
