Setting lsi 15 too large to enable extra bass?
My yamaha has a feature called extra bass, when the fronts are set too large you can enable this feature. When enabled the sub and front speakers produce the front channel low frequency.
Should i do this or just leave my fronts set too small?
My ypao mic also calibrated my fronts at 40hz,i raised it back to 80hz.

Depends on what sounds best for you. I have 4 LSi15s in my HT and all are set to large, as is the PSB Synchrony One center. I do not use the AVR as a filter, and drive the sub off the front pre-amp output ports. For me there is plenty of bass. Most of the time I do not even bother to turn on the sub.
Also, the 'extra bass' sounds like the old loudness option on receivers used for when the volume is set low.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Ok i put my lsi15 to large and enabled extra bass, so all frequencys are now played from my towers as i cannot set a crossover point for my towers. Sounds better!
I also manipulated my ypao microphone settings, I changed the db numbers, im sure that doesnt mess up the calibration does it, distances are left alone...Yamaha A2000/Emotiva Xpa5/Oppo 93/Polk Lsi15/Polk LsiC/Polk FxiA4 Surround/Polk FxiA4 Presence/Mtx Powered Sub -
If it sounds good, it must be correct.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm guessing it's not the loudness feature (mine has that buried in the THXII settings somewhere) - this is more than likely the LFE+ (for LFE and low frequency, vs just LFE). Different name, same flavor.65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

Maybe, but he said it was only available when the speakers were set to large, which skips the AVR filtering to get an LFE.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

More than likely it's like my Integras Double Bass setting. Basically it sends the full range signal to the fronts and also all the LFE to the sub, hence why it's only available when the fronts are set to full range. I have it on in my Integra and like it"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Okay. Now I see what you guys are talking about. That makes sense. Actually, it is a good idea. One thing that has always irked me is when somebody has full range speakers and people say "Set them to small and use a sub". That makes no sense. Set them to large and use a sub. Good to see AVR vendors are starting to realize that.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Yea I have never understood why people would buy a pair of RTI A9's or A7's or Monitor 70's and then just use them for the mids and highs. I guess they look big and awesome, and the woofers are just for show.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808
