My son just bought a set of 4 of these speakers for 80 dollars. I'm not sure which ones they are, but he's been offered 250 dollars for one pair already. Are these speakers really that collectable? They sound good but he may may need to change the surrounds some day I guess. Anybody know anything about these speakers?

Take a look over at Audiokarma, a number of JBL guys over there. I suspect it's the L99s that are getting the 250 offers, vintage models and certainly worth more than 80 dollars!

I am with CNH on this, the earlier Lancer had a better woofer but both are pretty dang good sounding Monitor type speakers.

I just listened to them with my son's Kenwood KA 305 amplifier that he bought in mint condition for 30 bucks, and they sound really nice. He put them in my family room, now if I can just get him to forget that they're there...

I have a set at home, I tried to sell them on Craigslist for $30 THEN decided to do a little research, glad I did- took the ad down immediately. They're nice and have a following.
