Anyone hear of MK Sound speakers?
got a local friend who is selling his HT speakers. I'm not trying to promote his sale but never heard of the speaker brand before.

+1 my MX150 is 12 yrs old and would buy again in a heart beat -
They closed a few years ago, and the name and some of the designs were purchased. i don't know what the quality is of current production, and there were reportedly many knockoffs being sold on eBay which supposedly hastened their decline. Having said that, I was blown away by some of their sub-sat systems in the late 80s - early 90s, and suspect that the subs would still hold up today.
BTW, I think that many of their satellite speakers from the 80s used a Peerless tweeter similar to the one in classic Polk Monitors. -
MK as in Miller and Kreisel? They made fine subwoofers, commencing (?) with the Goliath in the mid-1970s.
They are, sadly, defunct, as mentioned above. -
Miller & Kreisel is now MK Sound?--Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
I don't know, it was a question. I'm speculatin'...

These speakers rock. The speakers that Dolby Labs used for years in their sound studio. I heavily recommend.

They sound ok, nothing to write home about. They used to be pretty highly regarded in their day for surround sound applications and studio monitors. They don't have a great resale value and are not that sought after aside from the subwoofers which can be bought pretty cheap.
Yes, M&K is Miller and Kreisel and subsequently MK Sound.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
They had a sub back in the day that was practically seismic

They made awesome subs. Are they back? I thought they went out of business years ago.
