I like this sub, but I'm upgrading my system and wanted to see if this is obsolete or still is considered a good unit. Any advice?

There is always something better to buy if that is what you are asking. I love my PSW1000 even though I rarely use it since I am not a basshole, but when I do use it the room shakes and pounds.

Any ideas as to the room size that the PSW1000 is equipped to handle?

It's one subwoofer that Polk did pretty good and a keeper. Is it still doing everything you wanted? You may look into upgrading the driver to something newer, maybe drop a Car Audio woofer in it. Let me know the dimensions and I'll ask if a better driver can be dropped inside. How's that sound?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

It's still rocking. It will be situated in a room ~25' x 45'. Not sure what all goes in to dropping a new driver in the existing sub. Pretty easy?

Yeah, just a screwdriver and a couple beers. I'm not positive you can upgrade, just a thought that I'll pass along to Engineering at Polk Audio. It would be neat to be able to do that since it's a cool vintage Polk subwoofer.

Beautiful wood finish too that i would like to keep. Pretty sure it's packing two 10" drivers right now. Dorokusai, do you have any insight on in wall speakers? I have another post on that, but hoping to figure out a highish end in wall/in ceiling speaker setup for my new house...
