A lot of the people know about the link tucked away into the press release section to see the new RTi models, but when are they going to be put up on the main page where everybody can see them? There have been sightings in retail stores already. I want to see the specs and all that good stuff.

P.S. Make a game forum too. ;)

The manual for the new RTi line is up...

    New RTi Line Manual

Scroll down the list. Specs for the speakers are on the last page of the manual. Interestingly, the RTi12 doesn't go as low as well as the current RTi150.

You know Em, when I first bought my 150s at $498 each, I was planning on trading them up to the 12s within a year. However, now since my final cost for the 150s was actually something like $186 and some change each for the 4 of them (I got 2 pairs), I very, very seriously doubt that I will trade up to the 12s now. It would probably cost at least $400 or $500 more per speaker to do so, and I just don't think it would be worth it. You do get the extra midrange driver, so it should have better mid range dynamics, and you do get the Vifa tweet, plus suppoesedly better cabinetry, so the 12s should be a better speaker, but will it really be all that much better as to justify the signifigant extra cost? I highly doubt it. Plus, not to mention that you would have to also upgrade the center and surrounds as well to keep them all matched, with the additional expense they would encur on top of that. I'm just going to wait a year and a half or 2, and eventually, the new series will be clearenced priced as this last one was.

    Big,
I'm on the fence too about trading in. I can trade my four RTi150s and the CSi40 for four RTi12s and a CSi5 (once they arrive at Circuit City) up through November 20 this year. However, it would cost me an extra $900 to do so. Being that the RTi12s weigh 88 pounds a piece, I'd be concerned about "blowing a nut" getting four of them into my house. They do look prettier than the RTi150s though.

I'm quite happy with my set-up now, although I'm still thinking about more amplification. I did decide to use the spare two channels of my RMB-1075 to biamp the RTi150s I'm using as my mains. You were right about the need for more juice. I've noticed improvements all round with the speakers, with more open midrange sounds and deeper low frequency rumblings. I'm thinking that biamping the speakers is the best way to treat them rather than just throwing more power into them through the biwire method.

I too could trade mine in at CC when they arrive. I was told locally that even though my 150s cost more (I bought them last year for 1500), they could arrange for the trade up (actually a trade down) on paper. I haven't yet heard the 12s, but I am thinking that the 2-5.25" drivers will be an improvement over the single 6.5 on the 150. I like the looks much better and, this time I think I would welcome the cherry for a bit of contrast to all the black.

I talked to Polk CS about timbre matching the existing csi40 and they didn't seem to think there would be any problem. I also bi amp, and I agree with you Em, about the improvement in the sound. I am getting excited already about something I haven't even seen up close or heard yet.

Cost factors aside, those 12's are SEXY AS HELL when the grills are off. My heart flutters every time I think about them.....

While not AS impressive as the blank stare you get from the SDA line, the height, and presence of the 12's is, IMO, well worth the money to have that impressive tower of sound looking at you from each side of your gear.......

Em, they don't go as low as the 150's, I'd agree.....but.....tweeked properly through your receiver, you can achieve the same type of sound from them. By no means are they a slouch of a speaker.....

The mids/highs of the i12 will rule the i150. Not sure where the bass will come. I am sure the i12 would love to have over 600 watts pumped into its wires.

I just got back from Fry's. The i12 was next to the RTi150. From the visual observation, the 12 is taller than the 150 by about 5 inches. The wood cabinet is richer & smoother looking in the 12. The Sales rep informed me that Fry's just hooked the 12 up an hour before I got there; the price tag is still not in-place yet. The Sales Rep told me that the 12 will cost $799/speaker. Back to back listening for about 20 minutes, the 12 seems to be a little smoother in the high and a little richer in the low than the 150-- to my amateur ears. Visually, the 12 looks prettier than the 150.

I'm guessing that it is a typo, but the RTi6 and RTi4 are listed as $229/$159,respectively per pair???

    Thanks for finding that, RC.

Sounds like a good time to pick up a pair on the cheap. ;)
