I converted a pair of 1986 CRS+ speakers to 1989 CRS+'s so I could perform the 4.1 TL mod. I couldn't perform the mod on the on the 1986 version (to my knowledge) because they used the dual crossover boards. It was an easy conversation made possible because a forum member was selling a couple of newer version CRS+/2B boards and because I have fully upgraded SDA 2BTL's to take parts from when I needed them.
The 1986 versions use all MW6510 drivers. The 1989 CRS+'s use 1 MW6511 (dimensional driver) and 1 MW6510 (stereo driver) per speaker. The purpose wasn't to upgrade to the 1989 version, it's just kind of how they ended up being configured.
For caps I used all Clarity Cap PX's. For resistors I used Mills. I used Dayton Gold binding posts which were easy to work with. For the 4.1TL mod I used a 5.6 ohm cap, not a 5.8 ohm.
I didn't get the results I expected but I'm hoping it's due to burn in time. I'll post some pictures soon.

Holy Crap... I put the Erse Super Q inductors from the 2B's in the CRS+'s and also added .5 ohm Mills resistors in place of the polyswitch... Like I said, HOLY CRAP.
That's what I'm talking about. These things sound PHENOMENAL now.
It's very strange that the RD0-198 were extremely bright in the CRS+ with a jumper in place of the polyswitch, yet in the 2B's it was just fine. Could it be the Claritycaps? The .5 ohm Mills helped tremendously. -

For the benefit of anyone reading this down the road that should read, For the 4.1TL mod I used a 5.6uF cap, not a 5.8uF.Political Correctness'.........defined
