Polk Grill Badge for RT7

I bought a used pair of RT7's on ebay and they're missing the Polk Audio badge (I knew this before buying them). The badge needed has two pegs. I've seen some others on ebay but they only have 1 peg and wont fit.
Thanks!

If there aren't any badges out there does anyone have a pair of grills from a set of RT7's they don't need?
Thanks! -
Can you just drill a hole and use the single post badge?
I have a very good pair of RT7 grills w/badges, but it would take some sweet talking for me to part ways.:cheesygrin:Testing

I'm guessing your RT7 grills are attached to a pair or RT7's
I was hoping to keep them as original as possible. Do you think you could post a close up pic of the badge on the RT7? I've not been able to find a good pic of what the badge looks like.
Thanks! -
I'll try to take a pic of one of my badges tonight for you.
BTW, congrats on that pair of RT7's. I was watching them on Ebay, and it looks like you got a very clean pair for the price. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. I did a pictorial write-up on my RT7 crossover upgrade in the Mod section recently--you might want to consider at least replacing the electrolytic capacitors for a worthwhile project.2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0 -
That mod looks to be a little much for me. I'm not the best at soldering and tend to make a mess. Unless the speakers sound awful when they get here I might pass on this. Thanks for the help though!

They won't sound awful. I think you'll be pleased.2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0

They're going to be the rears in my HT. I currently have 8TL's for the front and a CS275 coming in. I'm trying to find a pair of RT800's to use in the front instead of the 8TL's. I tend to be a little anal with things and I'm hoping to have this setup be with speakers from the same series.
-
You might want to try the RT7's out in the front before you make your decision. I think they might surprise you. They don't have the extension of the 8TL obviously, but I find them sufficient for HT mains. On the occasion that I listen to 2-channel music on my HT system, I actually listen to the RT7s without the sub. I would leave the sub on if my PSW-505 was more musical, though. :redface:2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0

Here is a picture of a badge from my RT7.

Thanks! About how long would you say it is?

You know, I just thought that I should have held a ruler up to it when I took the pic! It would be a total guess, but maybe around 2.5"...2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0

That's the same size as the ones I'm finding on ebay! Only problem is that they're gold. I guess I could always paint them silver!
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it! -
No trouble at all. I'm surprised you're finding them on Ebay, since the badge has changed several times since the mid-late 90's when these were used. I think my small RT3s of the same era also have exactly the same badge, not a smaller version as you might expect.
I wonder if Polk might still have these in stock...2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0 -
The ones I found came off Monitor 7's. He lists them as 2 5/8 x 5/8. They look the same as your picture but they're gold instead of silver. There were a few others listed as well that looked similar. I will also have to drill a hole in between the two pre-drilled holes in the grill as the badges I have coming only have 1 peg...not two. Here's a pic of the ones I got

jaycam, I was wrong. I just measured the badges on my RT7s (and RT3s), and they are only 1.5" wide. Bummer...2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0

Hmm...well, I guess my RT7's will have more bling than all the other ones
You had mentioned a few posts back about trying the RT7's as mains...I'm starting to consider that. I was trying to find a pair of RT800's but am having a difficult time. If I move the RT7 to the front what should I look at for the rear? FX500? I also have a CS275 arriving Friday for my center, would that be a good match for the RT7's? -
The CS275 should be a perfect match to the RT7, as they both use the first revision of the tri-laminate dome. They should timbre-match even better than the CS275 & RT800, I believe. I think the RT800 has a slightly "brighter" version of the tri-laminate dome.
Rear matching isn't as crucial. I use the RT/FX in bipole mode with mine, and they use the same tweeter so are a perfect match. I think the FX500 would be a good match also. If you wanted something with more "direct" sound than the RT/FX, you could try an RT28 or RT35i. Though I love the RT3 and RT5, and they are "brothers" to the RT7, I would not recommend using them as rears. As they are mounted above ear level, they take on a "hollow" sound quality.
Regarding the RT7s as mains, it's worth a try. Set the CS275 up with the RT7s up front and see what you think. With a good subwoofer, I don't think you'll feel that you'll need a larger speaker up front for HT. However, if you listen to a lot of music with your HT system, you may not be satisfied with the smaller RT7 unless your subwoofer is well matched and musical.2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0 -

pepster: not much of a sweet talker, but what price are you thinking to "part ways" with your grills. Also, what is there condition? Would you be willing to part with one grill?
