we know that an original CD is more superior to compressed files in terms of quality.
my question is, if i were to convert an mp3 or wma to an audio CD, would the quality of the file be restored too? since the source file is already compressed.
thank you.

No, once the information is lost by lossy compression there is no way to "magically" add it back.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. thank you for that clarification. now, i need to start ebaying for audio CDs too.

anyway, i already have that adcom GFA 555II driving my pair of SDA2's. its a music nirvana for me now. but i havent tried that SDA effect yet. i'll just make an interconnect cable myself from an RCA cable.

One way to start a collection is to go to the library and checkout the ones you are interested in. I found some great CD's that way.

The Alpine head unit (CDA-9813) that I had in my previous ride had what I called the "Magic" button that they called "MediaXpander" which made a good attempt at restoring compressed music. It had 3 settings and, while not perfect, you could find a setting that made even highly compressed music sound surprisingly good. Ahhh the wonder of DSP!
