When I had my LSi setup (15's, LSiC, LSi/FX) I set the 15's at 60 & the center & surrounds at 80. Those settings sounded the best to me. Here's a great article on this very subject. Of course nothing is set in stone & play around with the settings & go with what sounds best to you in your room.

i'd say 60hz for the 15s, otherwise, you're not using the woofer much, such as waste

The lsi15 internal crossover uses the woofer for anything under 150hz, so don't worry about it being a waste, lol!

I personally have played a lot with the cross over settings on my m70s and to my surprise, for HT, 120hz works the best. The detail is simply amazing! Of course I have a sub to handle the rest of the frequency range below 120hz.

It doesn't look like you have a sub, so you will likely have to run yours lower than I do, but don't be scared to experiment with different frequencies. And let your ears adjust each time you switch, because particularly higher frequencies initially sound worse, until you begin to notice that the blurry noise is gone and how much more detail you are picking up now. Anyway, play around, everyone's ears and room acoustics are different, so you will have to find your own sweet spot. Start at 80hz, and move around.

I do run a powered sub, why would 120 sound better then 80, wouldnt my towers and surrounds lose out frequencys from 80-120, how does that make it sound better? I figure the wider frequency the more different sound from the speakers...?

They would lose that range, but they may suck playing in that range, so you really aren't losing anything. You are just off loading the work they can't do well to a unit (the sub) that CAN do it well.

The concept is the equivalent of multitasking. The more jobs you do simultaneously the less likely you are to do any one job well. So when you offset some of the work, the remaining tasks the speakers can do much better, with much more precision and accuracy. I always find it funny that people see cutting out lower frequencies as a loss of some sort. I view it as a gain in the right frequencies, the ones that the speaker is designed for and are actually important!

The lsi15 is a different animal from my m70s though. So you really should find out for yourself. I am telling you, you can spend 48 hours asking and reading, but it only takes 30 minutes to try out a few different settings and learn for yourself. GO DO IT!

Here's the other problem newbies run into. They always, including me at one time, want to hear the sub. They don't realize that the sub is not suppose to be heard. It's suppose to blend in and become part of the orchestra. Otherwise the sub ends up overpowering the rest of the sound, and it all sounds like mud, especially if you run the same frequencies from your speakers and the sub.

Anyway, let each speaker work in the range that it's good at. And make sure to tune the volume of each speaker to the right level so that it doesn't draw attention to itself. This takes time and patience, and it's a learning process. But if you think you will come to the forum and get the right answer off the bat, you are kidding yourself. Everytone's tastes, ears, and room acoustics are all different. There is no one right answer. Sorry bud...

I am using Sda Srs 2.3 for my mains and monitor 10's for rears. I crossover the rears currently at 50hz and like how it sounds and I have the mains set to large but also have the bass set to go too my sub also. I have tried to cross them over higher but they just don't sound good that way too me. I would if I had the setting crossover the 10's at 60 or 70 but I don't have that setting so I am going to give them a try at 80 and see what I think.

If I had speakers that would not make bass really easy I would cross them over higher but with what I am running it seems like a shame too do so. Do you think I really need to set the crossover that much higher?

An sda is probably a different animal all together. If your ears like full range, that's where you should keep it.

My settings really are meant for HT use mainly, where hearing every detail in the movie is important. I do like how music sounds with these settings, and it took a lot of work playing with the phase and volume settings, not to mention the position of the sub itself, to get to a point where everything sounded just perfectly balanced to my ears.

I just found that with the monitors, the higher I went with the crossover, the more clarity and detail I got from the speakers. Instead of hearing less, you actually hear MORE of the details in that narrower frequency range. That may not be the case with all speakers, especially the better models. All I'm saying is don't be afraid to try something higher thinking that you might somehow "under-utilize" the speaker or lose out on a frequency range. You won't lose anything as long as you take the time to blend in your sub to pick up the lower frequencies.

I am using this setup for HT mostly and I have a pair of 15" Velodyne subs for the lows tho as of now I am only using one.
