i've heard this terminology used all the time and I have no idea what anyone is talking about. First off I personally do not like the styling of the DQ-10,that said and again a matter of subjective taste but what does the mirroring of these speakers mean. I 've never heard this before on any other brand and it must be important because refurbed ones are going for some nice change. I do need some enlightening here....

Many Polk speakers are mirror imaged. It simply means the symmetrical arrangement of drivers between the left and right speakers. Helps insure that anomalies in spatial radiation patterns are balanced.
DQ-10's didn't come this way from the factory so you will pay extra for a pair where someone has taken the time to mirror image them. LSi's are mirror imaged speakers.

H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
I have owned 3 sets of Dahlquist DQ-10's (all at the same time) and am a big fan.
Mirror image refers to fact that the horizontal arrangement of the staggered supertweeter, tweeter, upper midrange, and midrange are opposite of each other on a left hand vs. a right hand speaker of a matched pair. If you put a "mirror: next the RH speaker, you would see an image of the LH speaker in the mirror and vice-versa.
I am pretty sure the early units were not mirror-imaged from the factory, and some people modified them and claimed they heard an improvement.
One of my sets (the oldest) was not mirror-imaged, and other two were. I know my mirrored sets came that way from the factory because if they were modified I would see evidence of previous mounting holes in the top of the base section. I tried switching back and forth between a non-mirrored and a mirrored set with a Adcom speaker switch and thought the mirrored set sounded slightly better, but the newer sets also had the improved/newer crossover components so it could have been that too. I don't know if I could tell the difference in a blindfold test.
My newer DQ-20's have all 3 drivers aligned vertically on the same axis, so there is not a RH and LH speaker.
I also have a set of ADS L-1230 speakers that are mirror-imaged. If you look at the configuration of the cabinet you can tell why they have to be.
I think you will really like the DQ-10's whether they are a mirrored or non-mirrored set. You can find instruction on- line about how to convert a non-mirrored pair to mirrored configuration if you want to try.Norh ACA-2B tube pre, Sumo Andromeda SS amp. Heiny 9 yea I'm not the most computer literate dude in the world but seeing that this was the speaker forum section I thought the question might fit. You have in the past have given nods to what works and what to stay away from from and this response from you this time was a tad on the mean side. It's true by this stage of the game and the gear I have maybe I should known some more but then again not eveyone knows everything except may as you said GOOGLE lol lol .or to put more politely KISHMEIRINTUCHAS,lol...lol....lol This was meant as an early morning joke and please do not get to worked up over this for I'll still need your expertise in the future. As an after thought we do share Adcom gear so just maybe were brothers-in-arms as the song goes. WHOW IT'S WAY TO EARLY AND i'M ALL OVER THE PLACE.....2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

If you have ever had unbalanced anomalies in your spatial radiation patterns you know how painfull that can be.Norh ACA-2B tube pre, Sumo Andromeda SS amp. what's the harm, man? What's the point of the forum if not to help people out while providing a sense of community? The reason many of us come here is because we're looking for more than an answer, we're looking for a discussion, which you will not get from a google search. That is, until it brings you to a forum such as this.design is where science and art break even.
