Ok so I'm new to tube stuff and got what I think was a great deal on some of the Dared gear. Figured it's as good as place as any to start with.

So I'm getting the SL-2000A pre-amp and the VP-20 mono blocks.

I've read on here that replacing the rectifier can help the sound of the pre-amp (although I don't understand why / how LoL) and of course rolling tubes in both the pre and the amps.

However, I don't think I trust myself to swap the rectifier (dunno, we'll see) but what other things could I do to help the sound ? I've read better power cord for the amps power supply ?

I don't really know what speakers I'm going to use with the VP-20 anyway. I've got a soundcraftsmen amp pushing my CV 2000-15s and another solid state running my Bozaks. Only speakers left atm are my old tried and true RTR HPR-12M....

It's hell having champagne tastes on a beer pocketbook!

Anyway, I'm sorry if this has all been covered already.
