Hi all. I'm having a devil of a time trying to figure out definitions such as; warm, bright, mellow, in your face, etc. Could someone define these in lay terms, and what they actually mean?
Also, many here advise that you balance your system carefully, which is fine (and the way it should be), easier said than done. Nearest Stereo-Hi-Fi is close to two hrs. drive from me. I'm not an audiophile & never will be with my hearing, BUT I do like nice music. How do you know what works together, and what won't?

Audio is a very subjective. We all have different listening tastes, therefore you might not like what I like. We may use the same terms but with a different meaning. You might call my detailed bright, etc. The thing to do is get your ears on different gear and find what you like to hear, what I like to call it 'you found you sound.' Also check for audio clubs in your area. We have a Chicago Audio Society that gets together regularly to hear different gear. Music meets are another way to experience member's different gear while exposing yourself to music you wouldn't have tried. Eventually you find something you like and can communicate your future gear direction with folks that have similar listening tastes.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 *
