Hey guys,

just like the title says, do any of you know if the denon cartridge goes well with the pioneer pl100 turntable? Currently i am using the shure m97xe with good results, but would like to do the next step and do not know if that step should be a better turntable or a better cartridge.

I think to go with a better cartridge would be more beneficial but this is why i am asking the more knowledgeable group here at the forum.

Regards,

eduardo

the dl103 is a low output moving coil. Depending on your phono stage, you may need a step up transformer. I checked the compliance and you're ok there. Another alternative, and less expensive would be the dl110. This is a high output mc cartridge, similar to the dl160, excellent bang for your buck cart. For the $.

The pl100 is a decent entry level table. It was my first real turntable as a matter of fact, but i wouldn't invest a lot on a cartridge for it. Imo, you'd be better served with the dl110. No need for a step up since it will work in both mm/mc phono stages. Hope this helps.

i will be using the phono section on my rotel rc990bx which can handle mc/mm cartridge, but i do not know about low output vs high output mc. What do you think?

Aren't H.O. MC cartridges generally connected to the MM input?
