To my knowledge my SDA1C have had no physical damage to date. I have grilled the children (with Worcestershire and sesame oil) and have not been able to solicit the deer in the headlight look. At that point I must conclude I have absolutely no idea where this flaw came from. Is this a factory defect? I hear no noticeable sonic degradation as I can't tell you when it happened or appeared. Curiosity has me at a disadvantage though. The RD0 are less than 250 hrs old.
Any ideas?

Thanks 1c

Tooth pick piece droped after a lunch break where ever these are made.

I just discovered a grill pegs rubber hole plug( Big one too) trapped in the roll of a surround on a 10" NHT Sub One subwoofer. All the holes have plugs in them so this fluke was in their since it was manufactured. I thought it was some kids toy stuck in through the port hole. Nope. Factory mishap that slipped through...LOL
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

You may have a camera that has the capability of taking a photo of the "burn in" phenomenon that is so elusive and hard to explain. Use the same camera to take a photo of your speaker wires and see if the photo shows they have similar appearance.

This was my first thought. Actually a fishhook came to mind. I do believe this isn't the case. I have honest kids lol thus far. I might have to go with the toothpick theory. I might just swap for the ones I put in the 5jr but then there's the burn in time. It doesn't seem to effect the sound but now I know its there...lol

Probably just forget about them but I'm still curious if anyone knows for sure or has seen this before.

Funny part of the Silk dome tweeter is you can't really push it in and make it stay. After I found this I tried lol.

I wonder if a good blow from a ball being thrown or kicked could push it in hard enough? The grill cloth I would think wouldn't stop it...would surely make for an investigation by the known perps...

    Just a hunch.

Figuring it was ruined I gave it a good massage lol. It wont crease or stay dented no matter what I do. I'll waterboard the kids and see if I can't get more info.

One of those many mysteries that always involve "your stuff" that never get resolved.
My advice is learn to live with it and/or order another tweeter. Cheers.

It won't hurt anything, just keep the grills on.

My guess, kids gooofed up, mommy tried to fix to keep kids alive?

I saved my sons life once; mom's 2 day old, brand spanking new Mazda Miata, meets hockey stick. Hockey stick that said "son" was told NOT to use in the garage. Nice, DEEP dent in new Miata hood. Luckily Mom was TDY that week, so long story short---car fixed, mom never found out.

I have NO idea how the heel of the hockey stick managed to hit the center of the hood; and I didn't WANT to know. Did I mention that I love Allstate? Our Allstate agent (Joel) was the bomb. I told him the circumstances, so in an effort to also save my sons life, Joel made sure that "mom" never found out either. Now THAT'S customer service.

My "kids" are now 17, 19, 21 & 23 so we communicate on a different level. You simply can't imagine how truthful they become a few years after the fact.

At one point I was convinced the house was haunted with all of the unsolved mysteries, but the truth eventually came out

Yep sounds fair on all counts. Looks like some sort of snag to me but I wasn't sure. Now I'm, curious as all get out and plan to employ the "separate interrogation" technique to at least find out what happened.

Honestly, I've blown more tweeters then they have seen so it's not going to be life ending lol but I tell ya! Not knowing is the worst hehe.

I know that feeling from both sides. My mother finally told me she didn't want to know anything else and to please keep everything to myself as i did when i was still young and at home. Also, My oldest daughter is now 23 and I find out many things now that she would never had told me before when she feared telling me.

keep it in mind and you will find out if you ask them once they are grown and not under your wing.

OK, a question about how these are made. Are they layers of silk treated with something or is there just one layer? You know how it looks when you trap a bubble in Silly Putty then slowly squeeze it till it pops. That's what it looks like, A tiny bubble under the surface. After micro inspection...literally... it seems its not a snag at all but more like a separation. I can't hear it and don't want a free one...rreplacement/ warranty isn't the issue here at all. The not knowing is killing me though and I must get to the bottom it.

I just had to fix a mid-woofer that one of the kids accidentally pushed in. I remember seeing my 2 year old daughter accidentally lose her balance and put her hand on the grill to support herself. I didn't think anything of it until I took the grills off so a potential buyer could see them. Oops! Fortunately, I had a second set of 1C's in the garage so a driver swap was easy and it ended up being that it was easily fixable with a small 'T' pin. Life with kids...
