I would aslo keep an eye out for a good 3 or 5 channel amplifer. Get one when you find one at the price you like. A avr with pre outs is much easer to find new vs finding an amp you want at a price that fits your budget.

I recieved everything except the Cs20. I got it all plugged in and started playing with it. Audyssey makes everything really easy, but it wasn't too happy with the amount of bass from the sub, so I had to manually adjust it up(it auto-corrected it by turning it all the way down...). I'm ridiculously happy with the way everything has come together and I know it will just get better with the Cs20. The center is obviously lacking in movies and music dvd's, but hopefully that gets fixed today. I will definately keep a loo out for an amplifier and I will probably upgraade the reciever next year. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. You guys rock.

I would revisit your setup menu and see where the auto calibration set your speaker levels to. You may have to adjust them manualy to your tastes. See also where it set your sub to. Should be around +3-+6, but that can vary. In any event, play around alittle and see what floats your boat. You will have to run the calibration again once you add the center.

for a while so I'm just dangling my feet over the edge of the rabbit hole... QUOTE]

That's what everyone thinks at first but one day you'll wake up to find that you're already in the rabbit hole. The question is just how far down you've gone. :)

the sub level is also depended on the volume setting of the sub. If you have the sub cranked clear up then Audyssey will try turning it clear down by assigning a - number. This will cause the sub to turn off due to it not getting a high enough input to turn it on.

I received the CS20 and am very pleased. Next step(in two-five months) is upgrading the receiver and getting an amp. I have spent my idle hours reading as much as I can about various amps and I'm kind of at a loss. Due to the Monitor 50's and the CS20 having 150W max input and the monitor 70's with 275W max, should I be looking for a good receiver to push the 50's and Cs20 and just a 2-ch amp for the 70's or get a moderate(150ish per ch) amp so I don't over-power three out of five speakers? I've read too many conflicting things when it comes to over-powering vs under-powering speakers. Obviously, I have time to make an informed decision this time(wish I would have hit this forum up before all of this started), and I would like this to be as future proofed as possible. Right now, I'm kind of stuck on the Onkyo TX-NR809 since the 609 has been fantastic and possibly an Emmotive amp as they seem to have the best bang for the buck. On a side note, might be getting some bookshelf speakers for some front-height effects(PLIIz and the Audessey equivalent).... Thanks for the help and support as I fall deeper down the rabbit hole.
