hooking up psw505 to a 2003 receiver

so my next-door neighbor gave us this 2003 receiver, the marantz sr6200, and still works pretty good. the problem is i am confused on how to hook up a subwoofer to it. keep in mind the neighbor lost the remote for this receiver, so it is impossible for me to access most options on it without it (i tried pressing the buttons on the box but i dont see an option for them). it is currently connected to 2 polk audio monitor II 60s loudspeakers.
if possible, i would just like to hook this up without messing with the receiver options on how it is supposed to handle the subwoofer, and getting some great bass/sound. here is a picture of the connections. all i see is two subwoofer preouts... which one do i choose and how to plug them from the subwoofer? it seems the two subwoofer preouts are seperated by a line also. thanks.

I would hook it via coaxial cable to the sub-woofer port on the right (in the shaded area).
You also might want to get a Logitech Harmony programmable remote. I bet Logitech would have this A/V receiver in their database and it would replace your missing remote as well as control your other electronics. Are you pondering what I'm pondering? -
yup got the logitech harmony 300 and hooked it up like you said. now the problem is my speaker bass is louder than the subwoofer? why is this? i setup for front L/R to "Small" with subwoofer "On", otherwise the subwoofer won't get any sound.my dad came by and also agreed the bass from the speakers are louder than the subwoofer.
i have the Hz knob turned to 160 like the manual said and the volume knob to 50%... speaker still "thumps" more than the subwoofer.
the manual says to also set the crossover frequency at 80 but i can't find the frequency option anywhere on the on-screen display... just dB. -
Doco, welcome to Club Polk. It's unclear where you're getting those instructions you say are in the "manual". Among other things, the SR6200 appears to have no adjustable crossover frequencies.
As to the volume of the sub in relation to the speakers, you don't indicate that you did any level calibration; setting the sub's control half way is just an approximate starting point. You should use the SR6200's test tones to set the level of the sub and speakers equal. -
thanks for replying. i got the instructions from reading the psw10 and sr6200 manual. i decided to try it the old school way and hooked it up via speakers wire in and out... and i could hear the bass working properly like it should be. i haven't tried the test tones yet. may try it later due to me being short on time.
i looked through another thread via google and this poster had the same problem i had with his receiver sending mixed frequencies from using a digital coaxial cable, and it all went away when he hooked it up using speaker wires.
in the end, he e-mailed the manufacturer and they told him to do a factory reset as a last resort. it worked for him, but i do not really want to go through more hassle of trying to fix this problem as i have classwork and finals to worry about before the semester ends in 3 weeks.
btw, i used a 25ft Coaxial Audio/Video RCA Cable M/M RG59U 75ohm to connect from the receiver to a 6inch RCA Female to 2-RCA Male Digital Coaxial Splitter Adapter to the subwoofer L/R. i tried it without the splitter and the same result still occurred with the bass not working properly. maybe the signal is bad over a 25ft coaxial cable? i'm just throwing random guesses. once i feel like i have more time to concentrate on this problem, i'll attempt to fix it. my thoughts are pretty scattered at the moment due to finals coming up. -
Eh, audio cable is not same as video cable... RG59 isn't shielded very well, and uses the shield as the return path instead of two wires. Try using a dedicated audio cable. You can test with a shorter one if you have them laying around...Main Surround -

Where do you see 'two' sub-outs on that back panel? I only see one, then there are multi-channel INs below the pre-outs, and some digital outs to the right (neither of which would connect to a sub cable)?
