Which Amp

Will be upgrading some of my equip.Speakers to the LSiM 703's. I like the Velodyne EQ Max 10 for a sub. These are being driven by a Vintage yammy RX-V870. I don't really have any idea on a good amp. Was thinking about a Carver 840A. Would this be a good choice? Any help appreciated. Thx, Joe

Up to about 1kish.

Saw the Carver at an interweb site. It was new,marked down from 1795 to 995. Read the accompanying lit and thought it would be a good fit.

To those that read, and those that answered my query, I have to apologize. Must have had an OLD man's moment. I typed completely wrong info, and I'm really sorry. What I meant to type was Cambridge Audio 840A. Geez,talk about feeling like an idiot! Would the 840A be compatable with the rest? Thx,Joe

Best to check if that receiver has pre-outs to hook up an amp first....not sure if it does or not.

That would make for a nice amp.

There is also a nice Carver A-760x amplifier on audiogon. It is supost to have been gone through by rita's. I am not for sure what the difference between the TFM-55x and the A-760x. They are both rated at 380 wpc x2, but the A-760x has a larger 2 ohm dynamic power rating.
