Monitor70 II's, CS2, and What Surrounds??

Hey All,
First time poster....I saw the Newegg deal on the Monitor 70's. I thought this might be a good time to change things up a bit as I have the room for the Monitor 70's upfront.
I currently have a 5.1 system (Paradigm 3SE Mini's up front, CC-300 Center, Atoms surround, SVS PB10 Subwoofer)
This system is a bit long in the tooth. As a matter of fact, I am getting reading to change out the rotting foam on the 3SE Minis this evening.
I have a 13' x 22' living room. Unfortunately I view my TV from across the short side of the room with my back against a wall. Below is a pic from many moons ago as viewed from where my TV would be. Notice the surrounds are on the back wall, at about 7.5', angles 45? in and about 30? down.
Questions:
1) I assume the CS2 would be a good Center for the Monitor70 II's?? (I have the room for it)
2) The spec page shows Monitor 40's for surrounds. Those will not fit. The Monitor 30's will barely fit. Is this my best option for surrounds or is there another?
3) Looking at my surround placement choices in the picture. Do I:
Thanks all for the help...This looks to be a great forum and I hope to become a contributing member.....

- Put the new surrounds in the same place facing the same way?
- Put the new surrounds in the same place facing directly forward?
- Put the surrounds on the L-R wall as marked by the Blue "A's" in the picture (the right "A" is actually in a 3' recessed alcove for the front door)
Thanks all for the help...This looks to be a great forum and I hope to become a contributing member.....

Yes to the CS2.
Have you considered moving the surrounds in a a bit so they'd be to the inside of the Door frame? You could then drop them down enough to accommodate either 30's or 40's.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2

Hey mark welcome to CP!
I own the same setup as you m70 cs2 and m40s on surrounds and rear duty.
To answer your questions from my experiences, yes the cs2 will rock for your system.
I love my m40s on the surround and rear but I think they are a bit wasted in those positions. I feel I wouldn't miss a thing if I had went with m30 for surrounds.
So you can save yourself some space and coin with the m30.
I am not a placement expert but if I was in your house I would place the rears on the A positions.
I really hope you enjoy these speakers, and when yAVR: Sony 5600ES

I really hope you enjoy these speakers, and when you are ready to mod your XO's give me a jingle as I just completed full xo rebuilds for my monitor line.
Thank you for reading.
Hope you found something useful in there.

thanks for the replies.....I will have to see if the can get WAF on moving those down..(I did think about it)
Esreuter...what is the XO you are talking about? -
Mark,
Give me a moment just got iPhone and I'll figure out how to link to my, Xo mod thread.
The XO is your crossover inside your speaker box. With all the capacitors, resistors and inductors. These components determine the frequency and the quality of your sound and it's dimensions. This is a gross generization of course.
I'll get that link up.

There is nothing wrong with the crossovers that are stock in Polk speakers. Polk speakers can be enjoyed without crossover upgrades. Buy them and see if you like them, I have not modified mine, yet.

Never implied there was anything wrong with stock monitors.
Just wanted to put out there if and when the OP wants mods, and doesn't do them himself I would love a chance to do them.

When I couldn't get the WAF on my surrounds in our new house we compromised with some in-ceiling surrounds. New speakers for me and no big ugly black things on the wall for her. Win-win.
Also, definitely go CS2.Display: LG 47" LCD | AVR: Marantz SR5005 | BD: Panasonic BDT-210 | CD/SACD: Oppo 980 |

HK AVR635 | Polk R30 | Sony DVD/SACD Player -
I see people coming in to this forum and are thinking about their first Polk speakers. He had a surround question, that needed to be answered. He already has to pass the WAF like a lot of us do. I have owned many pairs of Polks without mods and they have been fine. Granted, any product can be improved upon but let the guy get his speakers first before you hit him up for a mod. A lot of people don't even know what a XO is.
