Heck, when I started working, the minimum wage was $ 1.67. Good video though, the later part of the 60's was the end of the innocence for kids. Amazing how our society has changed over the years, some good, alot not so much.

A buck forty an hour for my first summer job, anyone remember those. I truely feel sorry for my grandkids. Not gonna be pretty when they grow up. At least i can spoil them now so they have fond memory's.

Interesting overview of that time. My father had one of those push Button Chrysler transmissions. It also had a glass DOME control panel and remote control antenna and power back window (that would open up). We really thought that we were in a cockpit when we rode or drove that! Learned how to drive on that monster.

I also remember my parents giving me almost a dollar so I could go to the movies on Saturday. This would pay for my entry, a drink, some popcorn, and a box of Milk Duds! You could hang out there all afternoon and even watch the film, twice without paying extra? Plus I could, as a 10 or 11 year old, walk the few blocks to the theater by myself with absolutely no fear of any problems arising! Pardon me, if I wax nostalgic here.

On another note. As a China 'watcher', I can't help but muse about the economics displayed at the beginning of this presentation. If we could, somehow, turn the clock back and reduce 'all' salaries and expenses to what they were at the beginning of the '60s we would regain our competitive edge on the current world market and give China and India a run for 'our' money! lol

    Thanks for the link!

....pretty MUCH as I don't remember. But I still have dreams of the best days GONE bye. Was a good and bad time to be ALIVE. The WAR to end all WARS was past (50's thinking)...COLD war replaced it. Housing was cheap. Small towns were still the heart of America. Leave your doors unlocked and your children free to roam. Then, Viet Nam ....changed the world....at least in America. Youth wanted a CHANGE. PEACE !!!!! Was a great thought.

    - and THEN........

Great MUSIC came out of this time period. It was poetry put to MUSIC. Heart felt.
